Depends on how u define where u "track your car" :D from what I went thru, upgraded brakes or a BBK set is always handy to have irregardless of where I use 'em...280km/h highway sprints, twisty roads in ulu yam gohtong, SIC...

Just get a set of stock 335i brakes, should be good enough to handle the 450+Nm torque..maybe can PM wideawake since he is eyeing upgrading to the next level hehehe...

You would be surprised that even the stock brakes brake the cars as good as the BBK when paired with good brake pads. A couple of us who went for several drivers training, track training and defensive, from 110-130kmh to 0kmh braking the braking distance is very close (difference of around 2-3m) between cars with BBK and standard stock brakes but with good pads.

Wide awake wants better brakes for the track hehehehe

I'm using Ferodo Baggins DS2500 on my not-so-big stock brakes and they squeal like a b*tch at low speed. Any idea how to reduce the noise?

Anyway just saw this... Yummy...
I am using the same pads as well for my fronts. Squeals like crazy but I have gotten used to it already hahaha.

Can always try Endless MX72 or CCRG

May I know which BBK brand u guys were using? What type of tyre, tyre conditions, brand and size the cars were using? Similar weight assuming both are 3 series and with similar passenger weight? Hopefully it's not e9x BMW Performance Brakes as many debated whether those can even be considered as BBK..

Anyways Brembo, AP Racing, Stoptech will run out business soon with everybody now would just buy better pads instead of upgrading the whole system..Thank you sifu for your enlightenment and sharing your experience with drivers training, track training and defensive training... :adore:

AP Racing and Brembo 6 potters on the E92 335i, running 235 fronts and 265 rears (I think one may have been running 275).

The ones above stopped earlier by about 3m compared to the 335i on stock brakes. Two 320d with the M Performance brakes stop only about 1 metre compared to the stock brakes.

The aftermarket brakes have varying uses, if you use them for normal day to day driving, like in stop start traffic, it won't play so much difference versus stock brakes. If for rempits and winding and twisty roads where you like to do a lot of late braking then yes, having them aftermarket brakes do help, a lot.

Also when choosing these after market brakes, you need to ensure the brake biasing is set correct on the car as well otherwise you throw the car out of balance. I drove a couple of cars with performance brakes (e.g. stoptech 4potters, R monoblock brakes, etc..ect..) during track days and suffer quite a fair bit of varying issues when it isn't set up properly. Learn it the hard way by spinning the cars a couple of times haha.

At the end of the day, it's up to you why you upgrade brakes, I know lota of people upgrade it specifically because how nice it looks hahaha, which I totally agree for some. If got budget why not hehehe

Im on performance bbk 6pot & Hawk HPS pads. I dont track my car, just to have enough stopping power when needed. :)

Guys what are the preventative maintenance that our diesel car normally need? I know we dont have plugs, but do we have ignition coil, or any other parts that need to be inspect for? Im reaching 110k mileage now, n wanna know whats need to be change instead of oil & filter only. ATF done.

I did it at a shop outside. I really couldn't be stuffed with what AB said because my warranty was over, and BSRI completed hence I decided to go ahead with the ATF change.

Few reasons why I did the change, reading from forums in the UK, they changed their ATF and was advised to change by their service advisor there. I checked ZF's website, the company which built our transmission and they stated that the fluid needs to be changed. Our transmission is the GA6HP19Z (easily referenced from RealOem.com)

Here is the reference from ZF's lubricant list. (link here)
5-, 6- and 8-speed as well as 4HP20 automatic transmissions:
ZF 5-, 6- and 8-speed as well as the ZF 4HP20 automatic transmissions are filled maintenance-free with specially developed
partially synthetic ATF oils. Maintenance-free fills are intended for normal operating conditions. Especially driving at very high
operating temperatures can result in accelerated aging or increased wear of ATF oils. It is recommended, in the event of severe
operating conditions, such as:
- frequent highway driving in top speed range,
- offensive, sporty driving style,
- frequent trailer operation,
being above average, oil purification (oil change) on automatic transmissions is recommended between 80,000 km and 120,000
km, or 8 years, depending on the load.
In each case, only released ATF oil may be used for oil changes. And oil changes must be performed in accordance with the
relevant specifications.

In this website, they also stated that BMW's term of lifetime is basically 100,000miles
http://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/techarticles/BMW-3-Series-E90/TRANS-Automatic_Trans_Fluid_Replacing/TRANS-Automatic_Trans_Fluid_Replacing.htm

So with these sort of information even coming from the makers of our gearbox, I rather trust their service advise based on my driving style hence I did an ATF fluid change at 78,000km. The oil I saw coming out of the gearbox as well as the metal shavings was horrible! The mechanic asked me why the heck I took so long to change the ATF fluid.

Did it at outside shop. I even asked Ingress before n they never mentioned on having problem if we change it just the price a bit stiff.

There are some shops that you can do at those areas.

Motorsport Division is one of our vendors who is based in Sunway. Do check with them on what fluids they use.

Another shop nearby who services quite a number of our diesel guys here is Jack (the shop name is Tyre Ling Loong IINM, same row as Kakimotor and Hup Shun).

Or near Motorsport Playground and MPS, you can check out Motorren.

For services after BSRI, most 320d friends go to Gloriang in USJ 1 mechanic's name is Jack..was told he is a very good and honest mechanic..a couple of guys send their ride there for ATF change at 70k km..Jack's hp number is 0166603181

Try reading the earlier parts of this thread bro..most were quoted around rm900-1000 for full ATF change + oil pan of course depending on the type of gearbox oil used..for my ex-335i was around that price too..no flush required..just ensure to have a look at your old oil, look out for metal shards and oil colour..

When I changed mine at 65,000km, the ATF oil was completely pitch black! Crazy that BMW says that it is supposed to last a lifetime...
