Just get my Timing Chain Replaced, total bill 12k with two injectors.

Car feel very virgin and gearshift very smooth, not even noticeable. Engine also very quiet

So a loosen timing chain also affect the gearshift. Before I experienced gearbox jerkiness...now gone.

Bro Jwah,

Mind to share more on your timing chain issue / history and repair bill?

It really worries me as the bill is like a nuke to me.

All Free of Charge, thanks you BMW! feel like as new

The timing chain failure is like chec chec chec sound....and it is constantly there.

Anyone changed their air filter to aftermarket on their D? K&N, Jetex etc...any performance increase or problem after install?
it revs faster and with that u hit your boost slightly faster at 1700-1800rpm .. with airfilters alone, nothing noticeable..

Hi guys,

Been awhile since i posted here. My car is already at 100k and will be sending for service at gloriang (new sunway shop) this saturday. Any advise on what i should ask them to check for??

So far i got no problem with the car, it still runs smoothly. ATF have been changed at 70K so next change will be at 140K.

Hey there... Which part of sunway is Gloriang located? Near to GT?

Hi guyz, been a while since I last updated. Before I go further, pls bear in mind this word - "ISOLATED"

Ok, here we go:

Since my last issue with the timing chain, unfortunately another major issue happened. This time the whole engine went 'kaput'. Happened on the NSE before Ladang Bikam (Perak), northbound on 15/6/14. Was cruising at 150kmh when notice a clicking/tapping sound coming from the engine (something like when you're driving with a nail stuck on your tyre).

Stopped at Ladang Bikam, and the whole engine was shaking! Prior to this, no power loss nor warning lights came on. No choice but to tow back to AB Penang. Next day went to collect my courtesy car, pending investigation of the engine.

Initial investigations found that when the oilpan was opened, the crankshaft had 'eaten' its own bearings into dust and metal shreds. Further investigation suspected the failure of the engine oil pump, which caused 1 of the pistons to scratch. I think the official term here is 'catastrophic engine failure'. Thankfully the gearbox was not affected.

Fast forward to almost 3 months, I finally got back my car on 9/9/14 after Puspakom, insurance & JPJ records were updated with the new engine number. Sadly Puspakom tore out my tinting.

The cost of the engine, labor and import duty came up to RM42+K, all claimed under BSRI. Mileage was about 57k km at the time (I am also on the extended BSRI until 100k km/Dec 2016). I had to pay for towing charges RM850, steering fluid or something that cost RM190 and a new tint.

AB says that it is an isolated case, and so far I haven't found a similar issue on the net. Given the wide range of models the N47 is on (E90, F30 & F10), apart from mine, it seems like a pretty reliable engine.

I know my experience may put off many would-be buyers and worry current owners (or even drive down the 2nd hand market value!), but going by AB's statistics, this is the 1st diesel engine being replaced, petrol engines is replaced more often - at least in Penang lah...

Lastly, kudos to AB Penang After Sales crew who always kept me updated and also put up with my 'surprise' visits to their workshop :D

That's a very rare and scary case indeed! So the culprit is premature oil pump failure which leads to loss of pressure and engine oil in the engine?

Yea, scary aint it... Oil pump was their main suspect. what exactly went wrong that caused the oil pump to malfunction is not known.

Hello bosses.. Need some advice. Car got stuck in a flash flood yesterday, thankfully nothing much except for a burned out glow plug... Got the car back and unfortunately it's not driving well. Hence wanna ask.. Which is the better and reasonable authorized centers around kl/ pj that I can send the car for diagnostic? Anyone?

Sorry I don't own a BMW, but a recommended brake upgrade would be:

1) BMW Performance Brakes (Gold Colour) - RM6k-8k
2) BMW 335i Brakes - used set can get less thank RM4k (front n rear)

Happy modding bro, I'm sure your diesel is a "monster" now..

A BBK is only useful especially if you are tracking your car and your need the brake force to be distributed evenly and have a larger rotor to cool faster. First, get better brake pads. First step of all, no use buying a BBK and then using OEM Textar brake pads.

I'm using Ferodo Baggins DS2500 on my not-so-big stock brakes and they squeal like a b*tch at low speed. Any idea how to reduce the noise?

Anyway just saw this... Yummy...
