hi guys, a bit late to share ..... almost 6 months enjoying the car, so far no complaint and enjoying every moment of it. Sometimes, i lost my way to the petrol station because it took ages to drain the tank..... by far cheaper than the e46 ive drove before. diesel rawks!!!

hi everyone, i've been reading through the discussions on this forum for sometime and finally the "venomous" 320d talks got into me and i got mine last friday..a big thanks to the sifu's here who made me decide without much confusion. :)

welcome to the 320d fraternity adik & shatesh! our community is growing by leaps and bounds :4:

welcome fellow oilburners! i can sense more and more 320d snapped up.
Try search 320d in the BMW Premium Selection website.
once there were about 10 at a time, now i can see only a couple of them.

Quill Sepang 320d Track Day-Featuring the new BMW Performance Power Kit

Hi 320d owners, keen on joining the above track day on 12th June, 2011-free lah, no charge. I have been allocated 5 places to allocate to you diesel lovers by Roland(he reads our threads all the time, he says:-D!!). If you are interested, PM me.Bring your own 320d and helmet, I have been told-you can take your 320d around the Sepang track and sit as a passenger in the 320d with Performance Kit driven by a BMW Malaysia driver. The kit costs about MR7500 including installation.

BMW Performance Power Kit available for the N47 320d diesel engine.

The kit contains the following:

New motor control software
Larger intercooler
More powerful 600W cooling fan with new fan frame.
Air guide made of plastic including small parts.
BMW Performance Power Kit aluminum plaque
Stronger torque converter (For automatic transmission)

The increase in performance:

Acceleration: 0 - 100 km / h (-0.5 seconds faster).
Elasticity: 80 - 120 km / h, 4th gear(-0.8 sec) 80 - 120 km / h, 5th gear (-1.0 sec).
Top speed: Vmax + 5 km / h
Higher torque curve: Maximum 400nm at 2000 1/min (up 40 Nm).
Higher power output: Maximum 145 kW at 4000 1/min (plus 15 kW)

Installation time is 2 hours for manual and 5.5 hours for automatic gearbox (change torque converter).

Bimmerdude, want to join the track day?I spoke with Quill-they are willing to allow you and your 320i on the track, and for you to sit in the kitted-power-uprated 320d , on 11th June. There's still 2 places left, if you are keen. Peace!

Yup, I joined the Quill track day, although a bit messy, it was fun to test the cars in track.
I was managed to take part in all the 3 sessions :)
The upgraded 320D was there too, but no chance (or say not allowed) to try it nor be a passenger to "feel" it.....

Back to 320D topic. Well, I m really loving it. Just imagine, driving a 2.0 machine with fc of a Toyota Vios or Honda city/jazz, torgue of a turbo, no turbo lag (or may be really insignificant), what's more you would complaint abt the performance ?!?

May be I m the unfortunate one, I have below problems,
1. Engine produces white smoke
2. Suspension has knock sound when driving on uneven road/holes

Facing the same problem with the suspension too. Wonder if there is a cure to it?

by the way, i was also at the quill track day, and was lucky enuff to be the passenger on the powered up 320d. Had to register much earlier on with quill.

Hi Zarcon! What do you think of the new Power Kitted 320d?

I also have the knocking suspension problem; after changing to non RFT the knocking seems to be reduce, still there but softer.

Oil Burners et al, I got notified that Quill have the performance powered 320d for test drive for today only (14 June) anytime between 10-5 at the sec14 dealership. Please drop in and look for Melissa (marketing mgr) or Jerry (SA cum professional test driver)! I got some pics of the machine from the track day, will post tonite if time permits.

Common quality issues of the e90
- thumping suspension sound over the first road depression/pothole and always occur on the first drive of the day
- rattling rear doors - noticed this on test drive, fixed
- minor vibration of the main head lights

Small niggly issues which does not in any way affect the joy of driving the 320d. Hitting 150km/h with no effort. Seems to b it's sweet spot. Getting 7.2l/100km in mixed city/hiway with constant heavy right foot n sprinting overtakes

I am pretty sad :frown:, only able to get 643 km in my tank (almost empty, with approx. 50km to go).

Mainly due to the traffic jam from Puchong to Bukit Bintang during work hours.

Average speed is only... 30km/hr :2:

Beside this, I am rather happy with this beast, really powerful in highway.. lol.

Got these on my 320d and 325i also. The same issues listed above are more pronouced on the 325i possibly due to the 18" (as opposed to 17" on the 320d). Sent it to the dealer a few times and it came back the same. "They all do that..."
