Even without the DPF, the current diesel engines in the 320D / 520D still burn cleaner than previous diesels. And consumption is a true savings over petrol engines in the same class.

So, jovial bro getting the 520d or 523i? Made your mind up? Here in KL, the waiting time now 9 months for the 520d. The 523i can get immediately, no demand. Of course the MR 50K difference between the 2 cars also helps the 520d sales.

Will go for 520d after months of research ....

Now the question is if Euro4M comes along tomorrow and it becomes a law to have DPF, will BMW M'sia offer free installation of DPF:cool: I bet it will :)

unlikely. the DPF is a costly piece of component.

Euro4 is still a long way to go for Malaysia, revamping the existing refinery to be able to produce it takes time. So lets not worry about having it tomorrow

Hi 320d owners, keen on joining the above track day on 12th June, 2011-free lah, no charge. If you are interested, PM me.Bring your own 320d and helmet, I have been told-you can take your 320d around the Sepang track and sit as a passenger in the 320d with Performance Kit driven by a BMW Malaysia driver. The kit costs about MR7500 including installation.

BMW Performance Power Kit available for the N47 320d diesel engine.

The kit contains the following:

New motor control software
Larger intercooler
More powerful 600W cooling fan with new fan frame.
Air guide made of plastic including small parts.
BMW Performance Power Kit aluminum plaque
Stronger torque converter (For automatic transmission)

The increase in performance:

Acceleration: 0 - 100 km / h (-0.5 seconds faster).
Elasticity: 80 - 120 km / h, 4th gear(-0.8 sec) 80 - 120 km / h, 5th gear (-1.0 sec).
Top speed: Vmax + 5 km / h
Higher torque curve: Maximum 400nm at 2000 1/min (up 40 Nm).
Higher power output: Maximum 145 kW at 4000 1/min (plus 15 kW)

Installation time is 2 hours for manual and 5.5 hours for automatic gearbox (change torque converter).

Can I bring my 520d, hahaha!

Honestly the price sounds like a seriously good deal since they even give you a beefier torque converter.

This is how manufacturers do modding, mod properly, not just remap and not care about the other variables.

Finally collected my pre reg 320d last week and has clocked around 1300 km so far.....noticed that it gets quite thristy if i drive more aggresively , but very fuel efficient if i drive it v gentle........

feels that from stop start , the 320d feels a bit "heavy " or a bit slow , i dont know whether its got to do with the tyre pressure as i put 2.3 front and 2.5 rear. this seems high for a "normal tyre" but since its my 1st time using RFT , mayb this is correct for RFT ?

Its the average Fuel Consumption that matters bro. Don't sweat the small stuff. Tekan all the way! Guarantee you'll still get 800km per full tank!
