Since you are here.. Could you explain what are the problem faced by most E46 owner with the GB?
I have my GB aux pump fail at 100,000 KM for my e46 but not for my E36. My E36 GB fail @ around 150,000 KM which required complete overhaul.
There is also alot of discussion of the ATF to use for GB. it there any difference?
Ok. I try to explain what I know and what information I get from my boss.
1st of all, E36 and E46 is using diffferent type of gearbox. GM and ZF. E46 comes with 5-Speed transmission. So far, the problem caused by E46, is more on mechanical faults. Maybe cause BMW know GM gearbox is long lasting, so they created ZF gearbox to get more customers. >.>
For ATF on gearbox, there are actually many type's of ATF. However each ATF is specially designed for different gearbox. GM gearbox using 1 type of fluid. For ZF gearbox, 6HP another type of ATF while 4HP,5HP another type of fluid. Basically all the fluid type is different for different gearbox.
