Car Jerking At Low Speed/Gearbox Problem?

Dan,

I don't think it is true that using Sprint booster would damaged your gearbox. I thought sport mode is RED and Green is the normal mode. I am also using Sprint booster with no issues. I believe you gearbox (the mechatronic solenoids) is causing the jerk and this is a common problem with ZF6HP gearbox.

google "m-scope batu caves"

btw i think your regular shop did the right thing by changing the atf. What was the condition of the old ATF? was there any metal pieces? was there any burnt oil smell present?

looks like gearbox problem to me. if you are lucky, changing the solenoid valve will solve the problem
Yes should be M-Scope.

previously I commented that I have encountered some jerking, but actually it was caused by the sprint booster that I was using,
I switch it at sport mode (green light) all the time, as John from Bomin stated that not recommended to use it as may damage the gearbox.
when I switch it off, no more jerking anymore, has been 2-3 months already since the last jerk.

Agreed with Herbert. Shouldn't relate to the sprint booster and the 6HP is known to have such issues.

thanks wingzee and gimli. ill try to get it checked at m-scope.

Actually my regular workshop just asked me to change the gearbox for rm7500 without any diagnosis. It was at the 2nd workshop
where the ATF was changed. But didn't realize if there was any burnt oil smell or any metal particles. Will update the outcome once I get it checked at m-scope.. Thanks again guys..

Welcome mate. Do update us. Here's a useful link for some reading on the 6HP. Many wear & tear items in the gb which many of us are unaware of (apart from the solenoids).

Your workshop is just want to make a fast buck by replacing the gearbox. If I were you, I won't even bother going to this workshop again!!!

Herbert, you could be right though....but I feel the gearbox has less jerk after switching off the sprint booster,
just wondering, do u keep your sprint booster on at green all the time or occasionally?

Dan,

I keep/set my sprint booster (SB) on at Red all the time. SB basically just amplify the electronic throttle signal. I guess one has to get used to amount of right feet pressure applied to the gas pedal as otherwise you will feel the jerkiness.
