Just sent my car for service at +/-6600km, as the onboard computer shows 'engine oil overdue'. The service center informed me the next service will be 20k km from now(26600 kM), I was not convince, so I called BMW Malaysia, to my surprise, the mileage interval for service varies. According to BMW technical advisor, gasoline/petrol car is good for 20k km, 320d is good for 15k km, 520d is good for 13k km…hmmm why it's different instead of both 3 and 5 carry the same engine? Then I was told it will be free (under the BS+RI) if I send my car for service after 1 year or reaching the recommended mileage, whichever come first.

I made a habit of changing engine oil every 5k. ..or more than 6 month. Went to my friend workshop with a diagnostic machine. .it cost 110 rm for labour. ..got to take care my engine from early days. ..just for info sharing its my way of keeping my engine healthy for longer period of time. ..cheers

i agree with capt. a 5000km oil change interval is best in order to keep internals clean and healthy.

I got a letter from bmw for my old e90 323i advising me to change my oil every 10k althought service interval on the inboard computer is 20k.. But if you change at 10k, you will have to pay for the oil change.

Is everyone still getting Avg of 10L/100Km? My car has clocked around 700km and when I fill up the fuel tank, it comes to 780KM. The onboard computer shows >11l/100km. Doesnt an average urban driver get anything close to advertised? 7-8l/100Km?

After 1 month I am still getting 11.3l/100km. I just reset my readings on my 4 fillup. Mostly trying to drive EcoPro. Mileage around 1500km clocked so far.

Bro. The onboard computer reading is not always accurate. It's better to measure it by yourself. Simple, just reset your trip meter to zero on your next fill up and then see how far your car can go and then fill up again for the actual liter of fuel used corresponding with the mileage travelled. My best so far is 7 liter per 100km and my normal is 9.4 liter per 100km. Eco pro is just a marketing gimmick. To save fuel, you have to be light footed, anticipate traffic ahead and drive as smooth as possible and best to avoid braking. Braking is wasting fuel. Drive slower not more than 80km/hr and don't set your Aircon temp too low as this waste more fuel. Make sure your tyre pressure is sufficient. And lastly keep your car as light as possible by removing unnecessary stuffs in your trunk. Make sure your car is regularly serviced to have a smooth and efficient engine that consumes less fuel. Keep your car in stock condition and don't modify your car to get best mileage. And lastly keeping your body weight down helps too. Happy driving.

After driving my 520 for 3 mths, with full tank ~ 70L my car can reach ~850KM which 70% hwy drive and 30% city drive.
Tried once before 90% hwy drive 70L can reach ~950km. Drive not more than 120 km/hr and light foot when accelerating plus constant speed via cruise control.
Note - this is base on "comfort plus' mode and temperature of 24C.

Wow comfort plus gives you 850-950KM? thats awesome.

Tried once on my 528i with ECO Mode, max I got was 850KM (90% highway and 10% city)

I guess it's the driving habits? :)

Good morning. I've just got my 520i LCI 2014 for 2 weeks. My young walker is clocking avg 12L/100km (with RON97) at the moment on Comfort+ mode with Engine start/stop function off (Don't really like this function personally). I'm from Miri town in Sarawak. A small town that causing frequent start/stop in traffic. I start to like the engine more already. Next plan will try below:

1. Same Drive Mode, but RON95
2. ECO Mode with RON97
2. ECO Mode with RON95
