Just to tumpang this thread? Anyone know of a hose under the crankcase ventilation hose? I have a leak somewhere in that vicinity and can't find the source. The leak drained all my coolant in a 20km drive.

Yup sorry about the late picture. Had to wait for the tea lady to finish checking her Facebook and email. Anyway I found the leak when it was dripping and sizzling on the CCV but is there a water hose there?

Water was found in the area of the arrow.

Will get more shots when I get home.

Sorry, M43 engine. Found the hose. I think it's Number 8 here:-

Hose is sitting on top of the CCV and was leaking because the hose clamp was loose. Tightened it and going to test drive later. Photo was taken with the microfilter/activated carbon container removed.

Btw, for everyone's information, with the container removed, it will be easier to see if the connector at the back of the engine block is leaking. The connector is Number 9 here:-

The real look of the the connector is here:-

Does it have the same leak stain as shown below.

No hose clamp for the hose leading into the CCV was loose. CCV is the item where hoses Number 9 join.

Second part of my post is for everyone's information.

I have the same problem when the no clamp hose was not inserted properly and water was dripping from it at the radiator side.
The problem is to get it to be inserted properly at it is quite congested around that area.

Looks like the "loose hose" ghost is all around. Btw, this is what I love about forums, the meeting of minds, exchange of ideas, sharing of misery and joy. :top:

I think I should update the status of my car which is turning my black hair white for the moment. After my "PREVIOUS" mechanic changed just about everything to do with the water system and even suggested changing the head gasket, we found the following. 1) It was the fan which was intermittent - running at high speed sometimes and sometimes not - in the end I got a brand new fan 2) After changing the fan for 2 weeks, water low again - changed the cap cover to the tank - let's wait and see if this will fix it

Now moving to my white hair problem :-

1) Wanting to change the head gasket, the new mechanic found that the previous mechanic has destroyed all the engine thread - bought a 2nd hand engine with 3 months warranty

2) Then the new engine was leaking oil - sump pump needs replacement

3) Then white smoke coming out of exhaust - sent car back for the guy to fix - hopefully its only the valve seal and not the piston ring

Will keep you updated soon .....

The moral of the story - send your beemer to a workshop that has technical expertise for BMWs.

Hi bro , good luck to Mr jarance . u have solve the problem ,now with Mr terry so sorry to hear that your hair going Grey . just joking........ yes that true what Mr Herbert said because not everyone can fix a BMW , u need to use all the special tools . to tighten the silinder head bolt u have to torque properly . take your car to a mechanic which can do repairing on a BMW car.

Man this is a really scary story.. all I can think about is whether the water disappears overnight with the engine off or with engine on..

But it seems now the disappearing water is the least of your problems..

1 think I can said bout used BMW is to change all cooling system unless you got records from previous owner. Too much plastic parts that cant stand our hot wheather
