Ur fuel consumption is good. Mine is an E32 730i 1987 car, engine never overhauled before, FC is roughly 5.5km/liter city driving, 60-65 liters get me to approximately 200 miles only, and this has been the case 6 years back since I got the car

Thanks for your comments wptee. Wow, 200miles? That's quite low. Aggressive driving? :D

Just got back from a weekend trip from Subang to Seremban. Half tank, already covered almost 180miles. Didn't really drove too fast. Traffic was especially bad today evening from Senawang till Seremban rest stop. Two accidents involving 3-4 cars bumping into each other.

If not mistaken, i MIGHT have saw an E34 M5 on the opposite side JB bound. :D Haha. Can't recall whether it was white or black.

Hey Greg. No problems. Aha, feeling frisky that time eh?

Anyways, how many miles have you covered on your E32? Mine's almost reaching 240K miles. :D

Always wanted to join the TT for 7s, but so far, other commitments have arose which made me unable to show up. But looking at all those pics, and of course, sharing a common interest in the 7s, be it the E32s, or E38s, does sound highly appealing! :top:

Hi Eggie,

Happy belated birthday!!

My odo shows 172K km but when I got the car the speed sensor kaput for some time already so can't really tell the exact mileage run by the previous owner(s). All I know after I got the car I ran around for an additional close to 10K km before I managed to troubleshoot the fault & get a new speed sensor. So I am just taking it as per mileage on the odo.. :D

Yours in miles would be much higher..240K miles = 384K km..

This round TT 24 Sept can't make it again as I would be in SG..hopefully next time..:) Still owe u a drink :)

Cheers :)

Hey Greg, thanks mate! Haha. Ahh, speed sensor kaput huh? Glad you managed to fix it already. Hehe.

Here's my mileage as of Sat night. Haha. Still going strong thankfully. :D

Haha. No worries about the drink bro. What about the 2nd Oct TT if it's on? I should be free that evening. :D

Oct 2 would be good...should be free then too.

Yeah, had to source new speed sensor from SG..not available here..lucky working there so can check parts & compare prices btw MY & SG..got that fixed sometime back already so have put in almost 40K km in the past 3 years (not including the pre speed sensor fix of 10K km)..

Older BMWs once taken care with TLC will really last..in fact I've more affinity for older BMWs than the newer ones..in fact my kids keep egging me to increase speed when I'm driving!!..That says a lot for the comfort & security of these cars..

Cheers :)

Hehe cool man. Would be awesome to see a few more E32s at the TTs. Seems to be dominated by the E38 gang. Wahahahaha.

Wow, you're a heavy traveller huh. The E32 has really served you well bro. And I definitely agree with your observation on the older Bimmers. I especially adore reading up the Modern Classics section in BMW Car magazine. Cars like the E30s, 34s, 38s, even the E31 8 series and E24 6 series. Wow! :top: Somehow the newer ones lack the WOW factor for me. Make no mistake, they're probably better built and has more power and finesse, but probably not the same as an older Bimmer, especially those with the driver-centric dashboards. :top:

Have a safe journey to SG bro. :top:

Quite pleased with the mileage this week. Pumped about RM 120 worth of VPR last Thursday night, and got about 280 miles before topping up again earlier. About 450kms covered. Reasonably pleased! :top:

I realised something lately. Each time I reset the accelerator, using the "depress accelerator for 20 secs then cranking the engine" method, the car feels livelier to use, especially at the point of picking up speed. Gearshifts seem way more smoother and the power delivery just feels so smooth, something which never fails to amaze me when I'm still driving around in one of the most handsome 7s ever built.

Car might be 22 years old, can qualify for youngtimer, and might not reach the same classic status as befit the E38 series, but you know what? I love my 730i so much. I'll definitely treat her to a new paintjob or give KC bro a call to detail the car and rescue it from it's 'acne' breakout.

Eggie.. i agree with you... 32 is one of the most handsome car.. i thought i was the only one using that term for my 32. Wifey thinks i am nuts..

we need to let the two babies meet up and compare notes..

Haha. I believe Uncle Vincent was one of the first to use the 'handsome' term on the E32. :D

The car grows on you after some time. When I first got the car back in 2006, I was like, dad, I thought you were going to get the James Bond car when you said you bought a used 7...

But now, when it is time to part with it, I find myself enjoying the car even more. The driver-centric dashboard and layout, the grunt of the 3L engine when it takes off, the joy I get when I do some utterly crazy cornering [not recommended though :D], the feeling is simply priceless.

Alan bro, my E32 not as good as your 740, or even Gregcwho's immaculate 730iL. :D Mine just needs a new paint. :D

Haha. I believe it's high time for the E32s to come out and make a stand.

E38s are more cool to look at, but honestly, nothing beats the feeling I get whenever I see another E32.. Did you know there's a 735i looking quite forlorn along the main road towards SS2/Taman Bahagia? So sad to see such a beauty lie there unused.

Topped up full tank of petrol last night. About 68.5 litres of fuel went in. Can feel bigger pinch on my pocket already. :D

This time, managed to get around 243.3 miles = 391kms, using VPower 97, and admittedly, some spirited driving this week. :D

Topped up my tank yesterday with about 87L RON 95. Managed to clock 687.5kms on that amount of fuel, had a drive to Kuala Rompin & back..easily maintaining average speed of 140-160kmh...

Cheers :)

687.5kms! Haha. That's very good! :top:

Wow. That's a pretty good return on your fuel, despite the heavy foot & all. Just got back from the weekend in Seremban too. Didn't really get to stretch my E32 that much, since I had a speed limiter sitting beside me. :D Haha. Cannot simply become a hooligan, or else get nagged from the missus.

Best part was that I actually got the honour of seeing another E32 on the highway during the trip there on the KL-Seremban highway. Car was the 730iL, and was light blue. :top: Imagine the odds of coming across another E32...

saw a nice E32 735iL WPA **** i think.at KLIA . same like your color. very nice the back leather.

Wow. Awesome stuff Phaser! Mine also WPA actually. Haha. But too bad only 730i! :D

Clocked 312 miles on my latest drive before filling up an hour ago. VP97, got back almost 502kms this week. Helped with some highway driving over the weekend, travelling to Seremban and back, and occasional cruising on AKLEH and DUKE since yesterday. :top:

Pretty pleased with the fuel consumption for the past week. :D

Update for the long weekend. Car was on 4th full tank of Petronas 95 Xtra, pumped on Saturday morning.

Full tank emptied just before noon today, red light was on when I made my way to the station in Subang. Took me just 2 full days to burn all that fuel... Sheesh, must've been the heavy right foot during my two round-trip journeys from Subang - Seremban during the weekend. :p

Covered exactly 297.1 miles before the fill up; giving me a return of 478 kms...

Can't seem to cover as much as my earlier post above - 312 miles...
