What i initially thought the expansion tank cracked based on the residue

Hopefully that just it for now ... but i will monitor coolant level for the next few weeks.

I have the same problem. The warning code comes on approximately every week.

Had it checked with pressure test yesterday. I could see water coming out frim head gasket. So that means i gotto do top overhaul.

b33mer,

looking at the picture, there tell tale sign that the hose connector are worn out beside the
obvious radiator cap.

The white stain on the insulation of the bonnet is most probably from the leak from the
radiator cap.

There is another 2 hoses on the bottom of the right side of the engine which also
tend to leak. You may need to remove the air filter in order to see the leak.

My advise is to change all the rubber hoses at the same time as part of the
periodic maintenance if you need to top up every 2 weeks or so.

Thanks for heads up :top: ... Will check on the rear 2 hoses this weekend.

nice thread here...i have a question.lately "Coolant light warning" appear and when i check the coolant reservoir, clearly low coolant level on it.for information, just change my AC compressor and both radiator hoses late 2011.my Q:
1.is it okay if i just top it up with water instead of coolant?
2.temp of my engine seems normal (in the middle), if the is any leak, should my engine temp rise up or overheat(finger-crossed this not happen)..

thanks in advance!

1. If there is a leak, just top up with distilled water until all leak is resolved. You are wasting coolant
if there is still a leak in the cooling system.

2. No, the temperature will NOT rise if there low level of coolant. The warning sign tell you that there
is a low level of coolant. Overheating will however occurred when there is rapid lost of ALL coolant
like a burst water hose pipe or water pump failure.

Note: when encountered overheating, park at the side of the road and let the engine cool down
for at least ONE hour before adding cold water. This is to prevent further damage to your engine.

Not the rear hose.
see pic below hose no 6 and 8. This hoses are inserted into the engine block. They tends to becomes
brittle due to constant exposure to heat.

here is the sign where it is leaking. You could hardly see it unless the air intake manifold is removed.

Since it is a major job to remove the top air intake manifold, might as well change the Oil Mist
Separator as well. (recommend by mechanic if want to change bottom hose to save labour cost)

Here is the picture of the hose when NEW and OLD.
