deep3102;551518 said:When i spoke to Bernard about this, he told me that it didn't mater whether the seals were changed before or after. If you were to do some mods on the exhaust or intake manifolds, then yes, there will be an impact. Thats as far as i remeber what he said during the conversation.

If your engine specs is not here, you can pm me or call Bernard directly.
Like Bernard's previous trips he will start remapping about 3pm onwards on 20th August. It would be good if you guys can book your times. Allow about 3 hours between cars for testing and remapping. Based on my experience, the best times to do your remapping would be at night as traffic is not too heavy and will allow Bernard to put in the best map for you. Bernard, is willing to work through the night.
Realred78;551764 said:FYI, I changed my vanos seals yesterday. First experience, was that my car felt very heavy or sluggish. I got home and called Bernard and Herbert. Both sifus said that very likely, the vanos timing or alignment had run. I checked with the mechanic who said that he had locked the timing and aligned it with the correct tools. What I did was after a few hours, I took my car out and as I live in Bangsar, decided to push my car up Jalan Ara. It is a steep hill and so I floored her. First run, she would not drag and the gears would change up very quickly. But this gradually changed after a few runs. I decided to give her a rest.
This morning, when I was driving to Sg. Long for a round of golf, I gave her a good run on the highway. The car was much better, but I did notice that I had to depress the accelerator more that usual to get up to 180km/h compared to before.
So I gave Bernard a call before my tee off and he said that the vanos may be slightly misaligned.
After the round of golf and a heavy downpour, I left Sg Long at 4pm. This time the car felt lighter than what it was in the morning but not quite to her best.
My opinion is that it may take some time. One thing I must point out is that compared to most of the guys who have replaced their seals, my original seals were in excellent nick. My car has only done 84,000 km. Plus from day one the previous owner changed the engine oil on a regular basis between 8000-10000 km. I have been doing the same as well. This could be why I did not get the great difference in feel compared to others who have replaced their seals.
Guys, Bernard is a very approachable and really nice guy. Give him a call and he will answer any of your queries. He is someone who really has a passion for what he does. Which is why he is willing to work till the wee hours of the morning. He enjoys what he does.
Get all your doubts and questions out of the way.
Cheers. I will be there see you guys there.

Gerald 5;551778 said:For Vanos seal replacement, I was skeptical at the beginning and so was my mech especially when the old seals were still in very good condition, btw my mileage is as low as yours at 83k km. But once it is run it, a numb butt like mine will also tell you that this is the best "mod" that i've ever done.
The remapping in the other hand for me is the total opposite, I did mine many moons back and really feel very little differences, in fact the gear change have also becoming a little erratic, down shift when it is not necessary. This is only my sharing with no intention of promoting or creating any damage to anyone business, after all that's what this forum is for.
Realred78;551783 said:Gerald, appreciate your feedback. But I suppose it may be a personal and subjective thing. I loved my remap and have enjoyed every moment driving my 530i since.
