Sorry no monaco blue pics...

Ya my fav color for the E90 is Arktis, as its unique and doesn't blend to the dullness of car colors we see here in Malaysia. Too bad the CKDs dont come with Arktis. Next up is Sparkling Graphite. It looks good on the E90, then Black. Silver is a bit bland IMHO.

A22 Sparkling Graphite Metallic ftw.
There's a reason they use this color in all their promotional materials :p

Actually grey is the most versatile automotive colour there is. There is almost never a grey-grey. You get blue-greys, green-greys, red-greys and every shade in between. The best grey I've seen for big cars is the Porsche brown-grey and for small cars the Renault turquois-grey. The next time you look at a grey, pick out the secondary colour. Then you'll understand why you like a particular grey and not another.

In M'sia, black seems to be an increasingly popular colour. IMO black only suits big cars, ie limos, not medium and small cars with short wheelbases and no overhangs. But you even see it on tiny Myvis and Getzs, which looks odd rather than beautiful. Sorry to those with SB E90s, but I don't think even the E90 is big enough to carry off a black with style. Black is boring because there can be no secondary colour in a black. Flame me! Flame me! :D

Oh arktis metallic is an awesome color, its my pick for my next E90.... :)

The dynamic range of arktis is spectacular!

Actually, there is nothing out there like a freshly washed/waxed black car :) Unfortunately, the beauty won't last more than 10 minutes. Black is a big pain to maintain. Its prone to swirls and is not forgiving to swirls, scratches and defects. I would not own a black car in Malaysia especially with the heat.

Sparkling graphite has a bit of eggplant (purple), dark blue and a warm brown. Its also a versatile color but not quite as expressive as arktis.

I agree, premium Slate Gray on a Porsche is an awesome hot color, well worth the USD3,000 extra cost.

I think a lot of people see a dust-free black in a showroom with halogen lights strategically shining on it and they think: Whoa! I want that! But that's not how it'll look on the road with road dust and ambient light. IMO black only looks striking on a big-chauffeur maintained car like an S-class, Bentley.

Big cars should have conservative colours, and small cars should have bright funky colours, but not the other way around. A Getz carries off yellow well, a Jazz can do pink, and a Myvi looks great in orange. But see a Volvo S80 in yellow (like I did this morning) and you feel like laughing. :)

KL2DC, the Porsche grey I liked was called Anthracite, a brown grey. Is SG a purple grey then? And is Arktis a blue grey?

Woah,

The pics showing the shades for Arktis looks impressive. However for me the best looking MSport pic by KL2DC was the Alpine white. IMHO the Arktis color is dynamic but when I saw it a couple of times on the road and service bay, it look a bit sissy/poofy. Sorry don't mean to offend.

I guess the pics don't really do justice to the MSport kit, as the car still looks quite the same.

I just have to say, you guys are GREAT! in providing such useful resource! Thanks for the headache. Regretably, only the Sparkling Graphite and Diamond Black are worth considering in CKDs. Yes, silver looks bland.

Silver works for Mercs because they have a conservative image. BMWs are meant to look garang and silver never works on BMWs. Always pick the colour based on the car, not based on your liking for a particular colour. It's like, don't wear pink ties if you have a paunch and grey hair. Pink ties only look good on the young and slim. :)

Sorry David, time to respray your TS. ;) How about putting a Jaguar racing green or red E90 on the road for us to gawk at? :D

Anthracite? Isn't than an old color on pre-water cooled 911s? :D

Sparkling Graphite ranges from purple to a dark bluish silver at its extreme. Arctic ranges from a light bluish silver to seafoam green to gold depending on light.

Actually BMW does a fantastic black. Their non-metallic Jet Black is one of the best factory blacks out there. Black is a classic color for the BMWs. When it comes to silver, that is Mercedes-Benz's territory, they do wonderful silvers (several iterations now, the latest being Iridium Silver-very nice!)

Imho TiAg (is that even a color?) and shows a car's lines/details the best. White is wonderful, its the new black! :D

I will still opt for silver or grey for e90 but grey looks abit too small for e90

my bro's last e65 black so many swirls, cannot tahan to see ! His new e65 is blue greyish.

my ex audi tt black also same problem but still looks best in black (not some blue although silver is ok)

If u intend to keep car more than 3 yrs, suggest silver still.

Juan Powerblow...

If you're getting Sparkling Graphite or Sapphire Black, don't forget the blacklines.

This is an SG, M-tech body kit, 335i (dual exhaust)

Ya, ya, ya...(sigh) my age again. Actually you could be right though.

So Arktis is a blue silver then? It looks a blue grey from the photo. I don't think I've ever seen one in the flesh.

You're right about Merc Iridium Silver. I have one and it really suits the Merc. Good for value retention too.

Not many colour choices for the E90 actually. Perhaps they're reserving the hot colours like Le Mans Blue for the actual M, which is next to come, now that they've rolled through the saloon - coupe - cabrio - saloonupgrade phases.

I think I have Arktis on my Lexus rx300.

Under sun, looks like silver, at nite blueish.

Hey Schwepps...I found your anthracite color!! lol

This is the Slate Grey I was talking about. It's similar to Sparkling Graphite...

Nope that wasn't arctic, that was Vapor Blue...

Vapor Blue doesn't have the range of arctic silver metallic, its pretty unique :)
