hi guys, i found tat my N46 takes more petrol compare to others. In actual, for RM100 it goes 380KM. In OBC it shows 14.1L/100km on mostly town drive. I am jus curious, will the engine oil leaking issue causes poor consumption. Quite scary when i test drive my frens N46, it shows 10.9L/100km.Any sifu here got experience in this?

Cslau, try reset the average fuel consumption on OBD. Normally it will go back to 7.9L/100km, but gradually after a mix of driving pattern it will stay at average of 9.0 L /100km.The oil leakage issue should not affect your fuel consumption if your oil level is OK.

320d averages 700-800km per RM100 of fuel. I'm heavy footed so I am averaging 650-700km!! Thats nearly double and I have more vroom power. Best switch to the diesel

There's this common symptom found from those who complain about high FC. Ask those who did the drive last weekend to Kluang to see how good or bad are their FC.

Decarbonization helps. :D

What's your mileage? How often u did 200kph? maintain that speed for how long?

so serious. my 530i on average is 10-11.3L/100km including fast driving and traffic jam. the best was 9.9L/100km

cslau: 14.1l/100km should be fine for E90 320i... mine around 15-16l/100km also..city drive.. if highway around 8-9l/100km

Mine clocked at 80,000km now. Normal town drive only, so rather difficult to reach 200kph. I m not a very slow driver but i doubt it varies so much from others. Will check out with SC tmr

I did drove my frens E90 320 which i found the FC very much diff from mine. My N46 FC is similar to urs. Now, i dunno whether to hope tat mine is normal like u said or hope tat sumthing is wrong so tat after rectification done my future FC will improve...hahaha confuse :stupid:

Yeah, it depends on where you drive. 14.1l for mostly town driving ain't bad. I'm mostly highway and my average is 12.0l (N52B25)

Solutions to N46 swallowing petrol !!!!

Hi guys,

Last week i've finally sent my car to outside SC. Knowing there was a leakage of engine oil, the mechanic check throughly. The SC replace all those gaskets (common ones such as Air pump O-ring, valve cover gasket, oil supp gasket, oil filter housing gasket) and air hose (there r 3 hose), top hose and air valve. This cost me around 3K including labour.

Immediately my engine thirsty level drops to 12.3L/100km normal drive, very bad traffic it goes to 13.1L/100km. Engine response was noticeably better. I m still monitoring the mileage as i havent finish 1 tank of petrol. Hopes the problem goes away forever :top:

haha..Astroboy, u can consider changing those hose i mentioned. When the mechanic show me the old hoses, it is kinda like 40-50% blockage....see oso scared. But i jus wonder wat makes it block, for a 3 yr old BMW. Mechanic says its normal wor...wear n tear. So, i m expecting to change those again in future :eek:

erm... my e90 320i fc as follows:

Ron97: about RM110 for full tank drive until the fuel indicator appears. I clock in about 400-450km... sometimes i do get naughty by flooring the pedel... hehe

High fuel consumption. Ever thought about replacing your pre-cat 02 sensors as said sensors would have degraded.

Mine's a E90 320i... I usually go at least 200km/h once every day.... I would classify my driving pattern as 'safely agreesive'.... I travel mostly between KL- Mid Valley, Damansara, PJ.... full tank RON 97 gives me minimum 550km (usually still have at least 50km more according to ODM before I refuel) ... best record was 680 km per tank (my dad was driving my car while I was oversea)... I'd tried RON 99 (V Power Racing) and although FC was not much of improvement (still less than 600 km), but the power is better than RON 97...
