Hi Capt, i just replaced my gearbox oil and filter yesterday, but the gear shift pattern is not smooth as before. It will jerk when my slowing down my car.(from gear 2 to gear 1) Is there any reset has been done to your gearbox adaption after the replacement of the gearbox oil and filter?

Yea, it was my question as well to the foreman in service center, he said replacing the gearbox oil will only make the transmission to jerk, reason was because of the mixture of old and new gear oil combination, thus the solution he told was to flush the gearbox oil and replace with new fresh ones. Well this was according to him, pls correct me if i am wrong. :)

Ok. This happened yesterday. Sent my daughter home from school and when I had to go out again - car cannot start! Just a click and a whirrrrr sound and nothing more. Tried it again and same thing. With hopes that it was just a dead battery, I called my regular garage with a big SOS! A foreman came an hour later with a battery and attached it to the jumpers for a test and...nothing! Same thing. Car still exhibiting the same problems. He tried various ways but to no avail. Decided to tow my car the next morning to the garage because it was around 5pm+ and I did not want to rush the issue and could wait for the next day.

Next morning, prayed hard and tried to start it again BUT no dice. So called garage and asked them to hurry up with the tow truck. Flat bed truck came and towed it to garage and 3 hours later - all fixed. It was the starter that was giving me the issue. I decided to change the battery as well cause I wanted a clean slate for both items :)

Signs of soon to be dead starter: ....nothing really. It just happened. Sure, there were occasional times it needed a second crank to get the engine started but I always assumed it was because I did not place my legs at the brake properly or something before starting the car. It was so insignificant that I never did think to bring it up to my mech during visits to the workshop....

On the plus side, I am happy that it happened within the comfort of my home. Secondly, I now know that my car won't die from a weak battery for at least the next 2 years... thirdly and lastly, i am super glad because of the free time I had at the mech shop today, I got them to reset the ECU in my car and also wipe my gearbox 'memory' so I can teach it anew :) I left the place a happy guy cause my gears now change according to the way I want it to :) It's super responsive now and it vrooooms the way I want it to...

Cost:
Starter - RM680
Delkor MF DIN 100 Battery - RM580
Labour - RM120

Did a normal servicing, replaced air filter and changed rear brake pad, totaled at RM 1575 including labour & tax. @ Seong Hoe

Just a info to share, bm service centre have the minimum spec for the disc brake whereby u should only change it when it reaches 18.4mm and the price roughly around 1k++

Thedonbk,
Thanks for sharing the info. Don't mean to "pour cold water" over you. But, I thought the total bill was very high. Did Seong Hoe do more than that? Actually, you could get OEM brake rear pads (made in Germany) for RM 190 and OEM air filter (made in Germany) RM 70

Cheers

LOL, not a problem at all chief, yes i agree the bill is quite high but there isn't any reliable service centre in melaka, thus with less options i guess i have to stick with Seong Hoe. U know any lubang chief? to get parts at ordinary rate?

Guys, lately my car has been making sound whenever passing thru uneven roads, and the steering also lost the firm feel of it.

What happened? my wild guess are:-

1) Steering rack
2) Absorber bush
3) Worn spring

Advice appreciated!

check the lower control arm bush. E60 cannot just simply change the bush. You have to buy the control arm with the bush
