Bala,

I think it can only be activated via bluetooth. I've tried connecting via USB cable and also the phone craddle, none works. :(

Thanks for your advise , anyway I tried the bluetooth it works , double thanks to you , what is the advantage or differance in upgrading the software version , mine 05 model

No need to change rotor kah?

My rule of thumb : 2x change the pad with 1 rotor. Ratio 2:1 pad: rotor.

My rotor needs to be changed surely but I thought of buying Stoptech slotted rotors from the USA. Anyone wants to join? Estimated price should be RM1.1K per piece inclusive shipping. If I buy here, original rotors would cost around RM900 a piece.

Recent damage on my E60:-

1 set of rear brake pad (ATE brand) RM190.00
1 pc of rear disc pad sensor RM65.00
1 pc of Battery GP RM450.00
1 pc of radiator cap (the rubber lining at the cover of the ori cap was broken) RM75.00

The ori BMW battery was changed although it was functioning though the cranking sound when starting engine is getting longer. Beside some of the electronic gremlins are beginning to show up eg. power window sign. So to be safe and sure, better change to a new one. The new battery was not registered. Only have to reset the date and time and re-initialise the active steering as per the manual. Other data like saved radio stations etc are all intact. No more electronic gremlins with the new battery.

Only one prob remains. The active steering's fault sign ("active steering initialising...") keeps coming up, say about once in 3 engine starts. Though it will eventually disappear after about 3 min of driving, it is still pretty annoying.

Went to check with a mechanic who advised me to leave my car with him so that he can bring his computer to the alignment shop to do a proper re-alignment before recommending other more expensive remedies like changing the active steering control unit or the steering angle sensor. But couldn't find time to leave my car whole day for him to test the alignment. Meanwhile have to endure the sweet and nice warning bell when the active steering sign appears to greet me.

Grand,
Thanks for sharing. Fully understand the feeling of anxiety & "now-what's-next"..... whenever the 'bell and message' appear!

I think there are a few types of battery. Those AGM ones would cost you RM1K+. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong :)

Yes, the price for the battery is correct though after the replacement, my mechanic actually told me he has undercharged me as his costs price is already abt 440 and they will normally sell for abt 550. Since he told me the said price over the phone, he cant renege.

Hi bro aoch88, what is those AGM types? So GP ones are made locally? What is the difference btw AGM ones and GP ones bro?

Tks
PS

When I was on the way back from Kuatan last Tuesday, my E60 engine flashed the "over-heated" msg and was asked to stop the car immediately by the i-drive. After 15 minutes cooling off, I could re-start my car without any incidence. Called Auto Bavaria Glenmarie and they asked to send the car in for inspection. Since they were busy, I put my car there overnight last evening. Got the update abt noon time that I have to change the Radiator Water pump and the thermostat plus the coolant. The mechanic estimated the costs will be abt RM3700. Any advice on this?

Bro I suggest you to get a list of parts which they ask you to change and cross check the price with Bavarian Auto or some other parts dealer. If it's somewhere around there then it's fine but if it's way off then better discuss again with your mechanic. Some of these mechanic likes to mark up parts prices like there's no tomorrow.

Thanks aoch88. AutoBavaria is always very high compared to others.

I've checked with Apex (recommended by AbuHasan earlier) the pump was at RM1500, coolant RM41. Didn't get thermostat yet. Anybody got similar parts changed?

You got the number for Apex? I'm talking about Bavarian Auto, not Auto Bavaria :p

Sorry, it's Autopex (not Apex) Tel:03-5513 9663. Autopex qtd RM1500 for the pump with installation. Qtd also the shock absorber (Bagio or something) RM500+ with installation

bavarian Auto quoted me RM1366 for pump and RM220 for thermostat. Qtd also the shock absorber RM500. they are stockist only.

Yes bro and actually what I meant was to compare/know the actual price of the part. In this example, BA quoted RM1366 and your mechanic quoted RM1500 inclusive installation so personally I feel it's a fair price. However if the part itself is RM1200 (example) and he quote you RM1500 then that's a bit over priced in my opinion. That's how I normally do it so if possible, get a breakdown of all the parts you have been asked to changed and try to see if it's reasonably charged.
