Hi, just want to check have anybody changed the damper for the booth-cover in E60? Any idea of the cost of the parts and labour?

Around RM750 for the rear damper, was quoted by german mechanic near taman melawati 5 months ago.

Where you got em Bailey?

I got this changed FOC. Pressured my dealer to change at his panel workshop. Heheh... With BMW LL ATF oil too

I have asked Ban Huat Chan - the sole dealer of BMW parts in Penang, they quote me around RM200 plus only.... plan to change end of the year

yeah.. me too thought the same.. quiet pricey... No, I did not replaced it

It's look like the same with front bonnet but a bit longer and only 1 piece located above the battery housing. this thing use to slow down/control the trunk cover movement, for me... every time open the cover I will put my hand on it not to let it banged loose violently

Hi desbimmer, pls tell us why u changed the items like rear diff lub, gearbox mounting. etc....any symtoms b4 u changed it? Or recommended by mechanic itself...
thanks.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2011 TO ALL FORUMERS...

I noticed a slight vibration at the lights or at standstill thus had the mech check it out and confirmed it was the mounting. I decided to change it all and I did not know of the gear box mounting but am sure they had their reasons ;) I also asked them to change all my fluids as sort of a new year thinghi.....ekekeke. They did not change the gear box fluids as they said it still looked good.

How many km for the ATF fluid changed??? Mine almost clocked 50,000km. Any ideas ??

50,000km just about right time to change. This process is not really a big $$$ ticket item. Better pay more "tender loving care" to the gearbox, bro

But how come the mechanic advised my only changed when clocking 80,000km ???
just curious about this. is it the standard mileage for the AFT to be changed?
Anyway, does anyone of u guys flush the gearbox ??? Another advice from mechanic is NOT to flush the gearbox.
Pls give ur comments thanks.

I changed my E39's AFT oil at around 150k. I was told AFT Oil from ori BMW can last a life time that's why I was reluctant to change it until such mileage (perhaps my info was missleaded). I made a total flush out of the oil and replace the filter. It was totally fine before and after oil change, only feel smoother at after that's all. Just make sure every replcement is genuine part.

My E60 is only at 43k so far thus I may only get it changed when it reaches 100k.

Adding to the list:
Cd changer at the glove compartment was stuck so sent for repair via Peter from CV Audio at Uptown upon good recommendations from forummers. Technician said PCB power supply is the problem. Cot to repair - RM480 + RM100 labour.

It's in my opinion and also based on what I have read that 100,000km is really far too high milage and under normal driving, this will take at least 4-5 years! I still believe, 50-60k km milage would be the right time period to change the ATF. Afterall, there is no harm in changing it earlier? Why risk it, yes?
