Personally, though a bit dated i luv the e46 variants!. But is it wise to upgrade within the similar variant based on its engine capacity and performance?
THANKS. HAVE A WUNDERFUL HOLIDAY & HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!
Here's my take
E46 325i:
Pro
1) More powerful and faster
2) Parts are cheaper
3) You're already familiar with the E46 platform so you pretty much know what to expect
4) Award winning silky smooth bullet proof M54 inline six goodness
5) Modding potential for E46 is better than the E90 (this is subjective)
6) Still a good looking car  (Again subjective but i'm sure most people will agree hahaha)
Cons
1) It's still the same platform as your current car (which is not a bad thing really :4

2) Resale value is not that great
3) Gearbox issue again this is very much depends on the previous owner service history since most E46 owner rarely change their gearbox oil
E90 320i:
Pro
1) Newer and better chassis (25% more stiffer)
2) newer technology
3) Better resale value (a big factor for some people)
4) Still the current 3 series that is until F30 comes to the market later this year
5) Better overall build quality and better NVH
Cons
1) Lacks power
2) Doesn't look as good as the E46 (ok that's a subjective matter hehehe)
3) Parts are more dearer
4) More electronics and sensors potentially higher maintenance cost
My advise to you upgrade to ..... E46 M3 bro hehehehe :top:
