funfer_fahrer;412864 said:It might not be the rubber door seal. Chances are the door side step protectors worn. When this happens it started to expand (especially the rear ones) and started rubbing against the underside of the door.
The plastic lock (part number 51478183029) costs RM5.86 each whereas the the black round clip (part number 51471881521) costs RM1.23 each. I got it both from AB Glenmarie. After a while I didn't bother to replace the clips. They are so fragile and easily broken. I spent almost RM30 for a set of 4 lock and clip. I felt so stupid now.
azan23uk;413211 said:Good point on the squeaks. Will check that out later.
On the plastik lock / clips. I called Bav Auto SS2 and was quoted about RM10 for the lock and RM5 for the clip. I guess it is a price for a pair. But they don't have beige...only black and grey..sigh..
funfer_fahrer;413216 said:I got mine (beige) from AB Glenmarie. Try give them a call.
azan23uk;413269 said:Yep. Called AB Glenmarie. They have to order the beige ones first. RM5.80 a pc for the top part. Picking up this fri. Thanks for the tip bro.

sorry for my broken english..i'm very new to continental car and especially to BMW that a lot of rumor about its Banyak Makan Wang characteristic
The rumour is true as long as you dont compare with italian makes.
after several year thinking..saving and thinking again..now i decide i need to have 1 of my dream car since i have my 1st job 6 years ago..actually i really need a car that good enough for traveling north south (jb-kangar every month) You gonna do a lot of mileage. You should consider buying a new car but..after several time went down for surveying..i'm quit confused on its variable spec..can someone advise me on the spec that i found below..?
e39 :
- 520 2.2cc
- 523 2.5cc
- 525 2.5cc
- 525 2.5cc M-SPEC
-japan spec vs UK spec
If u buy an auto bavarian spec, its pretty much high spec. if u buy the grey imported ones, that's when things can be a bit tricky. some grey imports don't even come with electronic seats. So, determine the spec u want.
my driving character is..
town - rileks2
highway - as fast as i can see other car
e39 suits u pretty well. its a wolf in sheep's clothing
so..which one is the best for handling + power + fuel + reliability of engine/maintenance and good when driving at high speed..200km/h up..?
Go for the 525i 2001 model or later. As for top speed, even the 2.2ltr 520i can top 220kmh. Reliability is a big gamble. Don't expect a Toyota / Honda's tuang-minyak-jalan reliability.BMW needs TLC. Just like having a supermodel as a girlfriend. Feel good 'riding' it, feel proud showing it to mates but has high maintenance
can someone advise me..?You got a bit here already.

what bout tiptronic? is it very fun to drive e39 with tiptronic?
thanks
initialM;414611 said:Of course bro flexibility to choose the gear without having to press the clutch.
I used manual tiptronic option most of the time:top:
azan23uk;415040 said:yeah...there's some thing about this tiptronic. somehow i think BMW definitely alters the breathing or fuel mixture once you switch to tiptronic. the engine is more alive, willing and produces a different grunt. its addictive:top:
bimmerholic;415074 said:But it's nothing like having a stick. I personally find the tiptronic is somewhat a 'gimmic' for a manual as it upchanges the gear unwantedly at high revs.
Imagine sweeping a sexy curve in tiptronic speed 2; keeping the revs high and all of a sudden it rudely upshifts to 3....just kills the adrenalin rush
:bandit:
initialM;415158 said:Never experience that one. Normally the gear stick until I upshift. I also rev until the redline then only I upshift. If not the gear stays. If I slow down only the gear auto downshift if I forgot to downshift. Normally when entering a corner or wanna get the pick up I'll downshift & rev up until redline then I upshift. If the gear auto upshift when reach redline it will protect the gearbox & engine but I never experience auto upshift.
Frankly speaking I prefer tiptronic as it combine comfort & power. Only one thing hv lil doubt on the reliability.
My experience drag wt E36 325 manual on track give me advantage as after 2nd to 3rd gear to 4th gear changes faster although my E39 is very much heavy.
bimmerholic;415259 said:Isn't all the tiptronic in all the range of BMWs the same? Cuz i experienced the auto upshift in the E90. Even the Lexus IS250 upshifts rudely. Yes the downshifts are auto when you slow down, that's fine.
True, the reason it auto upshifts is to protect the engine from over-revving. But at some point in time, you'd really wanna get the engine in the high band once in a while....or for some lil sideways motion
initialM;415316 said:Maybe others can share their experience on the upshift thingy on tiptronic. I dun think can go sideways coz got DSC & no LSD. Not sure bout that. On reliability at least the cost not exorbitant like SMG in case of gbox breakdown.
