Considering E39 530

Hi Guys im just looking for some feed back. I currently own an E34 525 but looking to upgrade to E39 which has always been my aim . I am current reading all post concerning E39 and gathered lots of interesting information. I have singled out the 530i as my next replacement. So far they are difficult to finds and the one advertised in Star for 95K needs lots of attention. Poorly maintained.I have seen one that recently caught my eye. Its a Recon version E39 530i M sport from Japan apparently year of make 2003 and imported in 08. did check up the VIN number - info given Euro spec 3/2001 make Auto Rt Hand drive M54 engine. My question is this - 1) owner asking for about 110K+ as grant says year of make 2003 , but VIN identification says 2001 car- how much is the going rate for such a car currently- need info for basis of bargaining.2). Are the parts for 525, 528, 530 interchangeable. I know from reading posts that suspension setup are different. Otherwise do they differ much.?Will be test driving the car this weekend .Will keep u guys updated. Thanx

Short of the M5, the 530 is probably the best E39 to get, though as you've noticed, they're a bit thin on the ground. Don't think AB sold many of those here thanks to our ridiculous road tax regime.

Anyway, good luck on your hunt! Hope you find your perfect 530 soon!

Since you mentioned it just saw an E39 540 just today on LDP dark green in colour with AC rims.

yea...i've seen that green 540 too before in PJ. But looks like an old uncle driving it.

Samuel, I currently drive an e39 530i and like you I used to drive an e34 525i. Believe you me the upgrade is amazing. Anyway, of course the power cannot match a v8 540i but for the inline 6 cyl class, the M54B30 is one of the best engines. If you find one, with a mechanic's clean bill of health, don't hesitate. 530 very good choice. The engine is the same M54. 530s
The difference gear ratio, final drive, Bigger MAF sensor and Air Intake, EML, Fuel Injectors bigger as well, Exhaust, Manifold, Gearbox, torque convertor, ECU software not sure about the engine block. The 530 has a better Fuel consumption than the (E39)525i. I had the pleasure of owning both the 525 and and now the 530 in the same car.....hehehehe.

Thanx the info bro. Im in the process of looking at a few over the coming weeks. Will keep u guys updated on any new development. If i do come across a car that catches my fancy just wondering whether any of you E39 sifus can come along and check out the ride for a better assessment.
