Bro, i thought u wanted braided hose ?

The braided ones are used to replace the brake hose at all 4 wheels. Not for the hose that's from the master pump to the ABS unit (which i replaced). The braided hose kits only comes in 4 hoses to be fitted at the wheels. Well if you want to replace the rubber hose connected to the ABS pump with braided ones, you need to custom them...estimated one hose is around RM90.

I also checked my rubber hoses at all wheels. Has been replaced by the previous owner not too long before i got the car. So it's fairly new and thus decided to pass the braided hose.

Hi everyone,

I intend to purchase an 520i E39 2002 but I would like to send it for an inspection first. Besides electronics, I would also want inspection on things in the bonnet (water pump, fan clutch, hoses, fluids, etc), brake pads, absorbers, etc.

My question is:
1. Is there an indication how much the above would cost?
2. Should I call up the service center first to get a quote?
3. Would doing the above give me a good indication on the car condition - since I do not have the service records?

Thank you all!

bro,
In order to have a peace of mind, checking the above items may not be adequate as there are other things too example, radiator, fan belt, air-cond belt, leakages, if any...etc. I suggest, before you finalise the price, send it a BMW Specialist to get a better picture.

p/s: the items you mentioned above would lighten your wallet by at least RM 3000

Thanks for the tips Jerman!! I will point it out to the mechanic when we do the inspection...

sent my ride in for a top overhaul - head gasket set, changed a lot of hoses, water pump, radiator, expansion tank, fan coupling (basically done up the whole cooling system), pressure valve, thermostat, chain tensioner, serviced the vanos and the oil of course for a wallet lightening sum of 6.4k. the guy also upgraded the software and the car is now more responsive. looking forward to an ultimate ride from now on.:top:

where did you do this?

did it in KS in USJ1. quite happy with the advise and service they give but not sure about the pricing though as this is my first time doing such major service.
