Drive to Penang 12/13 March 2011

Great and fun drive, amit me being with the wrong group at the start off. Was suppose to be with group 2 which was intended for the slower cars.

A safe, excellent drive & am glad to have your company on this drive..

My deepest appreciation to the Ipoh members who came out to greet & join us in Ipoh...your cars rock!!

My thanks also goes out to our Northern chapter friends who greeted us in Juru & assisted with the traffic there!

We hope to repay your enthusiasm & camaredie when you guys come down to Klang Valley..please do drop us a line!...

It is my deepest hope that everybody had a swell time driving up & back from Penang, and also enjoyed themselves with a short break in Penang..with the glorious food in abundance.

It is also my hope the accomodation was up to mark & up to your standard..we being drivers of the BEST...& expecting nothing but the BEST...:biggrin:

My appreciation also goes to Mizhan for blocking the traffic on the junction turning towards the hotel..risking his car & neck for us..a round on me next TT!..

If there were any shortcomings with regards to the convoy breaking up initially..(Cerita Kura2 & Arnab..) and also a section of the convoy getting lost in Ipoh..the traffic gridlock in Penang..the delay in checking in & the suitability of the lunch/dinner venue, please do accept our humble apologies & we strive to improve on the next drive..

After the Pg drive, my drive shaft was acting up..lol..spent 2 days in workshop just to trace the problem, damn.

Car felt juddering when accelerate especially from gear 1-2. Took out the whole drive shaft and checked, found out the rubber in center bearing and guibo were koyak. Even after replaced both items, the problem still exist. Changed another bearing (the 1st one is Lamforder, 2nd one is Febi) and re-adjusted the bearing fix point only solved the problem.

Spent 2 days in workshop just for the problem. The whole exhaust system was up and down for 4 times. Nearly order the used drive shaft from chop shop which cost much more higher.

I feel your pain, mine was in for a whole month to sort out some excessive vibrations and replace a drive shaft & guibo, as well as to knock back 3 oval rims back into shape. Got it back 2 days before the Pg drive, actually. There is still some vibration present, I'll have them look at the bearings also

wasn't aware that we were separated into fast and slow cars..i was driving comfortably 130-170,
able to keep up with the convoy at most time and presumably in the slow group.. how fast were
u guys doing then in the fast group?

Greg...how the hell did you get the accomodation so cheap..my wife was so impressed...simply awesome amn..and the view, phewww.. breathtaking that even my 3 yr old son enjoyed it.Hats off to you.

With regards to the convoy, don't worry, these are parts and parcels of going in a convoy especially with rempit kaki's around. The most important thing I noticed is that everyone was adhering to the safety regulations ( just as far as i noticed ) and I guess thats our main priority.

Its was said earlier in the thread that the 2nd group will be the slower group. Got mixed up during the flag off and next i knew..my onboard speed limiter was pointing at the speedo while I was going 210kmh....haha

thus far, doing fine with a policy of just pump and drive with the lady kicking no fuss and
no intention of 'spoiling her with too much TLC'...she squeaks a bit though, but all in good hands
