Daddy, this might be unrelated but I'm researching to do my own OBD II interface using ELM327 chip that would be connected to K-line. But this will only able to read generic code not BMW specific. Maybe the INPA ediabas can be built as well.. Can't find any schematic for carsoft interface though.

Seems that we're gonna have a great discussion on this. Jarance is correct that FTDI is a usb to serial converter. Schematic for INPA/GT1 would be like this

Exactly, they're charging much more on something that costs less than $10. Jarance there is a possibility that carsoft is using the same interface as GT1/INPA

btw, I notice that there are 5 person among us who order the adapter (20 pins connector).

I presume that you are planning to use for a older model other than E46 or E39. Please take note
that I cannot guarantee that it will work as I have not personally test this adaptor nor on other
model.

Hence, I would appreciate it if cannot work on your model, please dont call me.
