The same N47D20 engine in 320d is also being used in F10 525d, tuned up to 215bhp and 450Nm.
So both are tunable quite abit. Tech wise, the diesel engine is older having been around since 2007 whereas the petrol was only introduced last year.

Since it is the same engine (the 320D and 525D) how does one get the stock engine on a 320D to be"tuned" to match that of the 525D?

The force inducted 320i also can be chipped because of having turbo ma. The "d" will have much better torque and more than double the fuel efficiency. Trade off being the possible reliability issue due the highly contaminated diesel and the irritating engine note..

From marketing perspective, there's no diesel variant in that segment among the competitors, so BMW may want to retain the higher margin while letting the petrol model compete even with lower spec just to make the price competitive.

still its hit n miss with the turbopetrol chips with no major improvements in hp/torque....friends who own the turbopetrol Golf GTI have often said this.

There's a limit in chipping until a stage where you need extra cooling and bigger snail turbine, and down pipe. You must understand the GTI is already stock 200hp... and there're many 300hp GTI lurking around... dun play play..

184/380 is stock at the crank. Is the 197/447 at the crank or at the wheel?

I would say it will come darn close but still kennot beat the stock 328i.

7.3s v 6.1s is not close la.....

even as compared C200 8.5s with Passat CC 7.8s, i could feel CC is a lot quicker

Bro WUk51 max torque figures are at 447nm(crank or wheel?) vs 420nm(crank) discussed at the other thread. So the 0-100 should be better than 7.3s

This is definitely the E90 LCI rear...
