I think calling people "unker" is directly hinting "Hey! Oldman!"

Why our President like that one... unless he's not serious.. then it become an un-serious invitation..

Opss... my big mouth again... Soli.. Soli..

S'okay astroboy. There is some background to this which you might not be aware of but I won't repeat it here in the hope that the 'unker' image won't stick. :D

There you go JPB, not everyone knows the history behind something and not everyone has the time or inclination to surf every corner of this website.

AB, don't like that lah. I'm sure Albundy meant it as a gracious show of respect, same reason why a lot of us call Yazid, Pak Yazid. Unker is also a nick name we all use on Okow and others.

Incidentally, this is another great thing about this Club, how it transcends age, race, creed, religion etc. If only our country can emanate us!

I have to take you to task though for calling this an un-serious invitation. I'm dead serious, whether the E9x community takes it seriously or not is another matter. I have taken my ego out of the equation here and stated my rationale very clearly and comprehensively as a sign of how serious this invitation is. In 3 weeks for now, at our Mini Bimmerfest 2008, this will become even more apparent when what we have in store for members is revealed.

Thanks again, Schwepps! Different people have got different priorities, I for one understands this fully. It would be good to have you. I only hope I have made sense and in the end, it is my aspiration for more E9x fellas to be official members and let us show you guys how fun it can really be.

dun woli 'Unker' Schwepps, in this Club/Forum all the 5 sili owners are called 'Unkers' so you are not alone...

P.S. AB, I just told Albundy what you said since he left for JB after he posted here. He confirms he meant it as a sign of respect and wanted me to state this clearly.

JPB

I appreciate the sincere manner in which you have made this appeal. Being more open about the objectives, activities and plans for the club is very useful for those considering whether to join the club or not. Some of the attitudes in the past of expecting people to fork over money just because of the official status of the club was a bit off-putting.

For my own situation, my understanding is that, as per the constitutional rules of the club, I cannot join as I am not Malaysian...

Bro CK, if I am correct, the committee has amended the constitution, as long as you own A BMW, you can join as an official member. We do have Python Dave as an official member, he isn't a Malaysian neither.

So please don't allow this "Non resident" to deter you from join as an official member.

Hope to see you more often for the official activities & meet-ups.

That's true!

Bro CK, I'm a non citizen too. So don't let this stop you from joining us. The Club, if I'm not wrong, is awaiting ROS' approval on the amended Constitution. So, hope to see you as part of the family soon.

Bro JPB, please let us know when you've received the green light from the ROS. I don't want to be left out on privileges! heh!

AlBundy can call me unker anytime. Afterall, Unker Schwepps just wanted to advise young Don Juan to focus the appeal on the plans now and future, rather than bringing out the old baggage and guilt of the past. :smokin:

And young Don Juan did a sterling job a few posts ago. Any forumer who's interests tie up with the social and sporting posture of this club should become members. The personal value you'll get far exceeds the cost.

Hahahaha! Thanks for your compliment and support, Master Schwepps! :top:

Hi CK and Raz, I understand your predicament and hope the following explains the situation. At the last AGM, it was agreed to amend the Constitution to allow Malaysian residents to be full members. However, the motion was not properly presented as it had sought to amend the existing Clause A to Clause B. Essentially, all agreed that Clause A should be amended but not in the wordings of Clause B. The ensuing discussion then resulted in a better Clause C which was agreed by all, or at least the majority in attendance. Clause C could not be adopted straight away as the motion was meant to only debate Clause A and Clause B. Hence, to cut the long story short, the status quo unfortunately remains since Clause B was rejected leaving Clause A to remain but with the understanding that Clause C will replace Clause A at a properly convened Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM). In the calendar of events being worked out by the new committee, the EGM is planned to be convened in July / August. Why so long? This EGM will also take the opportunity to enhance other aspects of the Constitution which is now being studied. Personally, I hate all this red tape but that's the price for being a ROS registered society. Also, the EGM is my project so you can contact me for updates whenever. Both of you have my cellphone numbers.

I will not let this matter rest and will now dedicate some time to study if there's a quicker way to push this much needed amendment through i.e. like a circular motion etc.

CK, how long are you planning to reside in Malaysia? Once we resolve this issue, will you join the Club? We should meet for drinks soon, I will call on ya!

Raz, I also don't like how some ppl in this forum and the club have given you stick for your nationality. Rest assured, this will no longer be tolerated and I will push for action to be taken against ppl who do it again.

Hi Unker Schwepps,

Well, I addressed you as an uncle because its more of a sign of respect (blame my parents for it), something that is called mannerism. Unfortunately this has led to some low life creature taking cheap pot shots at me.

The reason why I invited you to the club's Grand TT is for you to get to know the club's members and see if the crowd is right for you. Everyone has their own set of norms and values, so the decision is entirely yours. You sounded very logical and your questions were legitimate in the questions you asked, and I hope to see you at the Grand TT.

Cheers:top:

JPB - just had my EP extended for 3 years, so at least that long...I would definitely give more serious consideration to joining if this issue was resolved.

Thanks for the personal invitation young man...I mean Mr President. :top:

There's no question that the crowd is right. Afterall we are all BMW brandistas aren't we, and that's a mega culture-match right away. It's just that, like most of us, I don't like to get into something unless I can be fully involved. Maybe even more so in my case. So it's a question of having too many involvements already. BUT...we shall see...we shall see... :burnout:

Saw my nick changed to light blue karer dy... :D
