Agreed, AB Glenmarie is utter rubbish. I sent my car for servicing over there, and this one guy I think his name was Raj or something of the sort...I had half a mind to go straight to the manager to suggest this guy getting fired. He treated me like I didn't deserve to be there, wtf? And the worst part was, he's in charge for my car while it is there.

I was in a major rush at the time, so couldn't do much about it. But I was appalled. This is BMW, why do they hire such nitwits?

Plus, my car had a funny squeaky noise coming from the belt compartments, and they changed my fan belt for rm400. But 3 or 4 days after I got the car back the squeaky noise came back!! I was furious, and instead of going back to Glenmarie I went to the SS19 workshops to let them look at the car. The guys I go to regularly now, he just listened to the noise, poured some water into the belts and told me "bearings". Just one word...he changed the bearings holding the belt (cost rm160), and the sound hasn't returned since. Shows how "qualified" so called 'BMW specialists' are at Glenmarie.

Well... all that I can say is that there are many qualified good workshops out there who can service or maintain our BMW cars better than these BMW authorised dealers. They are much better in terms of service and cost too :). So make full use of authorised dealers during your warranty period, after that... you should know what to do.

A good point then, where do we send our car after the warranty period? Any qualified good workshop for E90? :stupid:

oh gawd. i ask myself that question every time i so happen to stumble back upon old invoices. it happens to the best of us mate.

well first and foremost, the car was still under warranty. secondly, the subsequent visits (there were 3 consecutive in one case) were to rectify their cock ups (excuse my hokkien) from the first and second visit. this tri-visit experience was due to a faulty fuel injection valve or something to the effect (sorry my memory fails me). this episode was the last straw. i went to a 3rd party workshop after that. my car was fine (besides the usual age old issues) for the next 4 years.

ps. ingress did not yet exist (more like i didn't know of its existence) when my car was still under warranty.

cheers.

I wouldn't disagree with what you have just said with regards to AB Glenmarie's after sales service. As I said, there are plenty of choices now, Ingress and to a certain extent Sapura Auto also does a pretty decent job, and they do have a Fast Lane service center for minor fix-ups.

As for AB service outlets, they can't cope with the influx of cars. They have easily 50+ cars a day to sort out, and on top of that plenty of walk in customers. Good thing is, now there are plenty of dealers that can do servicing and repair works. Based on customer experience so far, Ingress Auto seems to be the best in town. And yes, most of the staffs are ex AB, but they are doing a good job there.

Cheers

Bundy,

What you say may be true but why should a lack of capacity at AB cause us to expect rudeness, poor competency and poor quality service. Cars coming out of service with new defects.

I have made my bad experiences know to AB, SD and BMW (M) management but to no avail.

Yes I will send my cars to other SCs.

And I urge everyone to do the same.

Bro,

I agreed that sometimes, the service is way below par. And overcapacity is something they have to sort out.

That is one of the reason why BMW Malaysia has allowed the openings on other dealerships, simply to let consumers choose. Previously, its AB and AB only...and obviously the situation was much worse. Take it or leave it.

As for BMW Malaysia, trust me they are taking note of all complaints and working to get it sorted out :)

at one toyota SC...they take in about 80 to 100 cars per day or more but never once they are rude or unresponsive as AB...

Very true. Even the big toyota SC @ Section 19, PJ....... so-so many cars.

I believe if there is a need to change, it should start from the top and cascaded down....

Well for BMW Malaysia's sake, I do hope they sort out their "issues" which are aplenty from the looks of it judging from all the comments made by various clearly unhappy forumers on this thread.

And yes, I too do not buy the "capacity" issue which is their age old standard excuse. I mean you can get away with it for a couple of years. But three years or more is just inexcusable. What, they mean to tell you that they don't plan ahead and that no solutions are formulated to address their shortcomings? Year after year? Only in Malaysia do we put up with this bullcrap after spending a quarter of a million dollars or more for NO service.

I am sure there is the issue of BMW's "local" partner too. Suspect quality of locally assembled cars for one. I think if they can improve this, there will be much less issues with the cars, which in turn would mean that their "capacity" issue would be, well a non-issue! Nip the problem in the bud.

Oh well, while they take another 3 or 4 years to sort themselves out (here's hoping they will), all we can do is vote with our feet. Want to get a 320i? Get the Audi A4 1.8T instead. Thinking of the 325i M-Sport? Get the C230 Avantgarde instead. Much newer cars than the dated E90.

But there isn't that "feeling" you say! Well it passes, it did for me and I don't regret my decision one bit.

Sure the C230's 7G tranny is a little jerky, the steering is too light (good for parking tho), the engine howls instead of screams when pushed and well, its a Mercedes (zzzzz). But its still a great drive and it also has this Sports button (which I like to call the "BMW" button) where once turned on, firms up the suspension, tightens the steering and the gear ratio is smaller (in a way which you will be able to feel). Which becomes all BMW like save for the howling instead of the screaming engine.

And by the time you need to swap your cars out, the next gen 3 series (LCI even) should be out and about and you can rekindle your love with BMW. But in between, you have hassle (ish) free motoring!

Maybe we should consider that AB's focus may not be on the servicing and spare parts side of the business model, and that they prefer to leave that to IA and the others. I have to say that when I bought this unit, it was AB that had more stock than the others, and so I bought from them. But when it comes to warranty and BSRI servicing, I prefer the quiet luxury of IA. The thing is, we have more choices now with 4 dealers in the Klang Valley and possibly more to come. There are faults yes, but not bad enough that I would switch to another marque. By voting with your feet I meant doing your servicing elsewhere. BSRI and warranty can be claimed at any dealer regardless where you purchased your Bimmer. That's a good system by BMWM in my books. :top:

Haha... till today despite my Avanza warranty expired, I still walk in to S19 UMW Toyota parts counter to get my original consumables. Friendly encounter, can sembang, pay cash on the spot, even credit card also can, no queue. Compare to Tan Chong and Perodua, need to wait for half an hour just to get a Kembara oil filter for my Avanza RM12.95 (Perodua) and Castrol SLX (Tan Chong). Still got customer go UMWT SC to bang table wan.. I wonder what happen if these customers were to buy a BMW... thinking better service..

at toyota u feel that they appreaciates your business and treat u like a customer....at AB they treat u like u are just another BMW owner that just merely can afford it so u dont deserve to be there unless u have Dato' in front of your name or buy BMW from them every year...

i shouldn't say much here...
everyone has a valid point..

by the way, AB Glenmarie takes 80 cars per day, has about 12 SA's most of the time not at their desk, mechanic's that's faster than a revolving door that hire's & fire's, has full fledged workshop and best in malaysia, but still can't get their act together...it's been years now.. hopefully they are reading this.

on the sale on cars, AB gives one of the best discounts on their cars, even new; so back off the other competitors , AB has more volume, hence more cars to service...you do the maths..

why AB is Not of the market ??... not for us to judge why...

and

that's why there are more indipendent workshops than the service center and these workshop boses drives a much more larger cars than us, but not limited to 1..

if only

AB can do better, then we would have better relationship than the indipendent workshops.. i dun have to worry about quality of parts, workmanship, SA re-address about our complaints, etc...

much more to list.. that's why i dun buy new cars..can't take this sh!t...

3-4 years?

Try at least 14 years.

I had the same problem with them since I bought the first BMW from them in 1996 when the SC was located in Sec 13.

Please dont get me started. I can chronicle I entire experience with the SC.
