Hi fellow gurus,This is a followup on a previous thread.http://www.bmwclubmalaysia.com/forums/showthread.php?49847-Windscreen-Repair-%28Lesson-learned%29After repairing my windscreen @Danny last week, more cracks are appearing and I've decided to replace the windscreen since it's under Allianz insurance (5K).My ride is only 1 month old still under 2 yr warranty and 3 yr BSRI.I have 2 choices:a) Sent back to AutoBavaria Glenmarieb) Sent to Allianz Panel Workshop (Dr Cermin in Cheras). If send back to AB, it'll take 2 days and i'm concerned about AB Glenmarie's workmanship. If send to Dr Cermin Cheras (HQ), they can fix it within 1/2 day but I'm worried that they'll use fake materials, and also concern about their workmanship.Dr Cermin said that they can "upgrade" my windscreen from a current 3 star to a 4 star (M Sport) windscreen. For both cases, I was told that I don't have to fork out any $ as it's covered by insurance.1) Which is a better choice? AB or Dr Cermin?2) How do you determine if the workshop is using fake glass? I heard that many workshop use china-made and pass it as german-made/ori glass.

My advice is dont go to doctor cermin their service bad end up i sent to another place and break the glass, cancel the claim from doctor cermin.
I get my glass fix at autoglass near time square, even the agong car they fix it too... shop is old but their service and expertise is excellent. PM me if u wan the contact cheerz~!

Does it have to be with AB? If possible go to Ingress as so far the feedbacks given have been positive!

If you go with BMW dealership their parts and labour is guaranteed for two years (do check with them though for confirmation)

I've read horror stories whereby the glass replaced was not properly sealed thus when heavy rain water would seep through to the firewall and behind the dashboard end up short circuiting the car's electronics ...

Last month did a claim for my E46 windscreen (2K insured) at a shop at Kuchai Lama (not Dr.Cermin) ....Satisfied and
no complain.

They gave me Pilkington glass ( or Sekurit) ...said is original and better than MSG.Didn't fork out any $ too.

According to the guy if insured is higher they can even include the tinted (even v-kool or 3m or any brand) for
the windscreen. As I think is better bcos is tinted is up to the windscreen before install back.

PM me if you want the contact.

I've had a windscreen replaced at glenmarie AB on my E90 323i.

Slow they are.... but 1 yr plus down the road, the windscreen is still ok, no leaks no weird sound....

But I guess it could also be luck of the draw.... if kena slip shod mechanic, disaster.

Anyway, it's also true with the rest of the AB service, finally got a decent service supervisor and he solved the problems which my car had for almost 1 yr and 3-4 prev trip to complain about the same problem (passenger side window and goes up and down on its own if I don;t use the single touch, knocking noises on the suspension). But they are slow.... took them 5 days to sort it out !

Just an update.
I got it fixed at AB Glenmarie.
Since the car is still under warranty and 3 yr BSRI, I guess it's safer to sent it back to dealers for any repairs etc.

Took them 2 days for the windscreen repair.

2 days for repair or was it replaced? That is sure a long time.

My take.I bought my car from ABG but never send there for service and or repairs.
Replacement of windscreen from Ingress for claims purposes were completed in mere couple of hours.
Of course i made an arrangement for that prior to coming to the SC.

At AB Glenmarie, even when arrangements are made, a one day job may end up as two. That has happened to me a couple of times there. Only reason I got back there for major rectifications is because I purchased the car from them and I want to try and force them for a courtesy car since they made profits from the sale. Other than that, I would not be keen to step into AB Glenmarie.

Notice a second crack on my lower right side of my windscreen and planning to send to AB Pg for replacement.

Sidetrack a bit: if more time taken on the repairs than promised, I think you should be offered a courtesy car - ask for it even! Afterall they make money from all this dont they:3: AB Pg offered me one and I didnt even buy the car from them (when fixing the TPA).

I did make prior appointment with ABG. They told me upfront that it'll take 2 days as its their HQ, hence more cars for servicing etc.
