This is called exchange. They will put your pre-reg number to, for example, a motor bike and you got a new number. Your finance company will need to agree. Usually this is not a problem.

It's interchange of number. That will cost you around RM 1,600 to RM 2,000. And you need to send your car in for inspection.

uhh..that's good. i nvr knew that since i nvr bought a 2nd hand car...
errr..what if i dont have a motorbike license ?

U dun have to worry about motorbike license.

The runner will assist you by taking the pre-reg number on the car into a motorbike (the runner will provide the bike, dun worry about this at all) and then apply the new number that you want onto the car.

This is the meaning of interchanging number. The pre-reg number on the car will be exchanged to the bike and the new number suppose for the bike will be exchanged to the car.

The cost for doing all this is around RM 1,600 to RM 2,000. That's all. You just need to choose the number you want, then pay for the number plus the interchange fee of RM 1,600 to RM 2,000.

You can push for "just-in-time" pre-reg, where you can choose your number if you're lucky. A couple of my friends managed to do this for their E90's when they did it last year. But once AB pre-regs the car... too bad heh. These days the numbers are not too bad. Mine was given the number 8100 during the pre-reg process. Although I didnt choose it, I like the number although it means something like prosper one day and then nothing left after that in chinese I think .. hehe.

Pat sold JPB and myself our E46's and then our E90's too...LOL. Just be aware of pre-owned event cars. A safer bet is to stay away from Silver and Black color ones  .
