I don't think BMW malaysia will start to produce 525d (twin turbo, 2.0 I4) till our diesel is at least Euro4...

a real pity when our neighbours in vietnam are thailand are enjoying the 525d

Tested the 520i at TS Ipoh this afternoon. Still prefer the low end torque of the oil burner. Somehow it feels more responsive. Maybe the 520i is still tight and my oil burner has done almost 15k. Infact my ride seems to become more and more responsive every day.

I think maybe the 520d is even better than the new 528i. The real challenge will be between the F30 320d and the F30 328i-keep watching this space! Will organise another cocktail party!

not sure. but whats the objective you want eco mode , save more diesel ?? , if yes our older 520d cannot do it unless we have auto start-stop.

Noneed eco mode lah.........ecomode is a death sentence! Drive it like you stole it (like maniac bro always says)!! And still get 800kms for a full tank! Damn goodlah the diesel cars! If you drive it like a grandmother does, you may get 850kms per full tank, but what a shame! Nobody's here to break any Guiness records for mileage per full tank, correct?

i think it would be waste to have the auto/start mode on the 520d.... somemore this mode damn annoying...

agreed. put it this way government if increase oil price petrol will be 1st ,diesel being the backbone of transportation for everyday item, cannot be increase suddenly if increase 10 cent , teh tarik increase 30cent.

but ecocide from 5.4 -> 4.3 no point , auto start stop is irritating . and it work 50% of the time as if the weather is too hot it will not work to ensure the air-cond is cold.

And then since the start-stop doesn't really work in tropical country, it also carries extra weight and also an extra component to cause heart attack went it suddenly fails!!!

One of the major characteristics of Diesel engine is, RELATIVELY, economical if under idle speed! However, this stop/start function builtin will certainly save a lot of fuel, because you do need to inject Diesel into the cylinders to keep the engine alive. pro and con with the system then, however, I do see why they omitted the auto start/stop function in Diesel models.

quote "The power output of a diesel engine is controlled by regulating the quantity of fuel that is injected into the cylinder. Because the engines do not need to control air volumes, they lack a butterfly valve in the intake tract. "

from 2012 520d its default built in for auto start-stop.
