Hai.. welcome to bmwClub Malaysia. i am one of 520d LCi owner. Just got my car last month n it was a fantastic car so far. the fuel consumption really impressive. in a single full tank, i can go up to 1200km then baru isi minyak. The lCi model has better fuel consumption due to its shorter gear range and also performance is increased compare to the pre-LCI. The interior n exterior design also looks nicer that pre-LCI model. It has digital instrument panel and it changes accordung to what driving mode you're choosing. The service cost im not sure because my car still new n not yet time for service. So far, it was a good car. The suspension of the LCI model gets minor changes n it is tuned to reduced the body roll while cornering. no jerkiness problem for my car so far. before this im using bmw 3 series n bmw service is actually cheaper than my mitsubishi and volkswagen, quite surprising haha. Thats all i can share with u about my car. hehe
Hello guys and frens, im a newbie. im at the moment searching for my next car and D comes into my mind. it will either be the 320d msport, 320d gt or the 520d. can anyone enlighten me on this and help in my decision. im driving an A4 Q at the moment. reason for me to jump ship is plainly because there are not so many interesting models being offered by audi..*sigh*...

anyway,,thanks guys.. :)

sure, why not :D no problem, u're most welcome. i bought this car at RM320k because pre-owned zero mileage car. Th car is registered under company name as first name then our name is second but the car is new. They done this to give customer a discount up to rm30k n the interest rate at affin bank is 2.32%. i also not sure how to PM in this forum haha. just ask anything that u want, i will try to answer u :D

it seems you got a good deal with the pre-reg at 320K and it is actually new. Our KK dealer here could only offer 25K rebate on a pre-reg demo car instead and Mileage less than 500km.

Hello there,

What you have listed as options are different segments of vehicles.

The 320d/M-Sport offers the smallest cabin and boot space of them lot and the M-Sport suspension (there's a Modern line for the 320d too) is superb comparing to the normal F30 models basic setup.

The 320d GT on the other hand offers a lot more space.

The 520d gives you a better interior and spec (adaptive dampers, navigation, etc) and its of course more spacious compared to the 320d.

So all in all you really need to know what you want in a car before signing the dotted line.

Hi Guys,

I hope all of you are having fun with our 520d. Plan to take the dive with a 2015 520d but many people I have met are discouraging me to get a 520 diesel. Issues I heard are :

1. Diesel engine not reliable here due to the lower grade diesel we get here compared to the higher grade diesel that is available in Germany. They said that first few years are ok till the diesel engine reaches about 120k whereby the problems with the engine start coming in. Anyone heard what is the maximum mileage achieved with the diesel engines? And also, was there any problems ?

2. They also highlighted that maintenance of the diesel is higher than the petrol? Anyone can clear this?

3. Is the F10 520d getting another facelift or model change anytime soon?

4. Anyone knows if the new 190hp and 400nM unit is already available in Malaysia?

5. Looks a side, old or young man's car a side, which is a better buy, a 520d or a E300 Bluetec Hybrid Diesel? Both are CKD anyway.

Appreciate all the information I can get before making a decision.

Yours faithfully.

Can't answer question 1 and 2 since I don't own a diesel car but bro Mavik will be more than delighted to tell you about it since his diesel model is in good shape for a while now.

Question 3....yes the all new G30 5 Series is now undergoing testing and word is that it will feature quite a number of new tech but that is only if you can wait until its world premier in 2016!

Question 4....the X3 LCI is already using the new diesel engine that you mention but still no word on when the F10 LCI will be updated with the new engine...its worthwhile that you confirm with the dealer before signing because this diesel engine is quieter.

Question 5....very subjective but I did ask my wife before about the looks between a Merc and BMW and she mention that Mercedes...although its churning out striking models, its core models like the C, E and S are still for 'older' people.

How to know if the new engine is in the 520d upon taking delivery?

As for the looks, its quite subjective.

Anyone knows if Mercs diesel units are reliable? My uncle used an E270 CDI before, he had a hard time with it till he decided to sell it off. Spent a lot of money on it.

Im currently on a jul 2012 e90 320d, ran over 60k kms and car doing well. So i think bmw diesel engine does ok with our euro 2 diesel. Thinking of 520d but cannot stomach the steering wheel (personal taste); too thin for me after using e90's m sports steering wheel. My question is can i retrofit lci 520i or prelci 528i's m sports steering wheel? How much "damage" including installation? Thanks for tunjuk ajar.

fifty5, my best recommendation is to refer to your service center. Need expert to install to ensure airbag working after installation.

Not sure got to ask the dealer if the new engine is in it but I doubt it is. For a new engine it usually warrants a model or LCI here in Malaysia.

No Mercedes diesels as of now but plans are in the pipe to launch diesel models for the E Class (hybrid version with tax reductions) and the new C Class. I believe these diesel models will function properly and can be compared with the BMW diesel models as MBM spent a lot of time and miles testing it here with our crap diesel quality.

Heard the E300 Bluetec Diesel Hybrid is scheduled to be released soon as well. Only time will tell if these oil burners from Mercs are reliable. At least the warranty of 4 years might be of some help.

Test drove the 520d, 328iGT and 520i yesterday at AB glenmarie. Damn! The 520d rekindled my love for the BMW diesels all over again......

The offer this weekend for a 0 mileage 2014 520d lci is 320k nego with 5 years BSRI

Anyone keen to group our buying and squeeze the max from them? I reckon 290k will be about just nice for a year end stock clearance... LOL

Bro, so I would like to hear you ended up with what car? hehe

Now is my turn. Im looking for 520D (used car 2011) as that fits my budget below 200k. Anyone can advice whether your 520D gives any problem and how much are maintenance cost for after-warranty service?

Hi Chuan,

I have been using an Alpine White F10 520d LCI since December last year. My comments as follows :

Plus points :
1. Better mileage vs the petrol units.
2. Better torque.
3. More durable engine as compared to petrol as mentioned by my service guys. Some others have also commented the same.
4. Euro5 fuel is coming soon. Engine less noisy and less diesel smell. Hopefully the B10 does not get implemented. Even if they do,I doubt they will stop the E2.

Minus points :
1. Noisy outside but inside ok for me.
2. Rough restarts during Auto start stop. I program it to off position as a default. Irritating feature during traffic jams.
3. Diesel smell not nice. But with euro 5 slightly better.

So far....loving the car and no regrets. Handling is good. Have never look back ever since. 520d is a beautiful car. If you can stretch your budget, the LCI will be a better buy! Better specifications.

Yours faithfully.

If you can even stretch your budget even further...get a unit registered from 1st June 2015 to enjoy 5 years of peace of mind warranty and FOC scheduled maintenance hehe.

Wow... EURO5... Before that arrives, I think BHP is the top choice for diesel in Malaysia?
Year 2011 520D already have LCI or not ya?
