to be fair, i have driven the 328i as well and i wish i was driving that when a Golf GTi overtook me at 220kmh.. :(

We are glad you joined the 320d fraternity, mizhan bro! Why did you not pick the 328i?

i tested both F30.. and the diesel is clearly the better daily runner. the gobs of torque at low end makes the 320d a delight running around klang valley. i also travel at least 120kms daily; i used to spend average RM37.5 to cover 100kms, now it only costs RM10 to travel the same distance. with such savings put aside, not long from now i'll have enough for a decent downpayment on a 335i or M3 for those need-for-speed moments

just buy 320d and add power kit. you will save rm50k and get the same power

Wow, can save 50k and get the same power as 328i!?*

As a reality check, heres a desktop comparison (M320d vs 328i):

Max torque: 420Nm vs 350Nm
Torque @4500rpm: 240Nm vs 350Nm
80-120kmh: 5.4s vs 3.4s
0-100kmh: 7.3s vs 6.1s
Max power: 147kW vs 180kW

Let us know if u come down to KL and hav time for some swapping fun :)

I saw olympic cycling event in astro. All offical cars were f30s. Looked very nice. Could not see the model but I guess they were 320d...fast and efficient!

Yeah, nice yellow. You r probably right on the model since they only need it to be abit faster than the cyclists.. :4::4:..

On a serious note, yes BMW r providing over 3000 vehicles for the Olympics, including 1550 of F30 320d ED.

I agree too, as a daily runner, the 320d is the car to get.....! We can't waste time pumping up at the petrol pump every 3 to 4 days, can we? And nothing replaces the exhilarating torque, mizhan bro!!

For me, I only fuelling once week up to 10 days for my lovely diesel burner. Diesel is great invention for fuel saving and nature care. hehe.

No regretted at all..
Love the torquey of 320d. Such a disappointment when i saw black soot at the tip of exhaust.
Managed to clean the soot with water jet, after 2 hour of driving black soot makes again the "colony" in the exhaust.

the ratios seemed to be about the same. 200kmh is just a whisker above 3000rpm.

bro,

i meant mechanical part, is there any different? since 328i is using 8 speeds sport transmission (comes with paddle shifter, right?)

Bro, try other brand of diesel and see whether the black soot still continues to make "colony" in your exhaust tip. Read someone saying that Shell's diesel tend to produce more soot than the others

Considering the 320i & 328i share the same engine, and it IS a brand new engine for the F30...isnt it PROBABLY better to get the petrol...NO?
the 320 can be TUNED further to match 328...NO?
And the 320D is the old engine from E90...right?
not all of us can afford cars more than 250k mah...hehehe

Resale value of diesel car is expected to be lower than petrol car due to lower demand for diesel car in Malaysia.
Maintenance should not be much different from a petrol car
320d is noisier and make some black smoke when accelerating hard.

However, the superb mileage from diesel (800km per tank) and powerful low end torque more than make up for the above.
