8.3l/100km is not really impressive. Which model are u driving with ?

I normally get around 7.5l/100km with comfort mode traveling between KL and Penang, 70% at 100-120km/h, 30% between 120-150m/h. Mine is 320i.

My F30 clocked almost 24K KM now. An average, it's around 10l/100km recorded by i-drive. I use comfort mode for 70 percent of the time with 10% of sport mode and 20% of Eco pro. I cross Penang bridge everyday so I always stuck in traffic jam.

It does give significant different if you set it to Eco pro and drive in gentle way without hard acceleration. You will get much better fuel efficiency. The fuel consumption given by manufacturer is only a reference to us.

i get around 12l/100km for my 328i.

quite disappointed really. i dont even gun it that often.

Seancorr,

Do you notice when you're at Ecopro, the coldness of the Aircon reduces?
Can't say I noticed that even when I switch from ecopro to comfort or sport it kinda still feels the same. Will take note on this.

Anyone had tried ECO mode on highway and maintaining the speed between 100-120km/h ?
Yeah I'm on ecopro most of the time and the trip computer will show up to 8.1L/100km...and if you try to go above 140kmh the ecopro will warn you by showing the extra km in white instead of blue to tell you that you're burning fuel.

Yes and no depending on your Eco pro setting. You can set the interior climatic to also correspond to Eco pro mode which yield even better fuel consumption at the expense of less air conditioning. I remember when I mess with the Eco pro setting configuration you can see how each setting yields the efficiency level in terms of FC.

You may set the speed to be lesser than 140kmh. I set mine to 120kmh which is about the unofficial speed limit in most highways here. Anything more than 140kmh, Ecopro is not optimized.

Im wondering how much it can save from a full tank of fuel by running eco mode all the time. For me as I always in Eco mode, it doesnt even exceed 10 km of bonus range everytime (Full tank). Is that normal? btw the potential eco setting % i set it to 50%

driving BMW but worried about FC?

Car price 250,000

petrol RM120 per tank.

yes, i am disappointed with the FC, but most european cars "overclaim" their FC anyways. for the 328i, the claimed FC is 6.4 litres per 100km. I am getting 12liters per 100km.. around 88% more than what BMW claims.

but Malaysia petrol is cheap. and cars are expensive. which makes it slightly oxymoronic to drive a BMW and worry about FC.

Wouldn't say they over claim. Their claims are prolly backed by figures and test results. But how they obtain those figures is also prolly not realistic in Malaysia traffic.

Just this Wednesday I was on my way back from Ipoh when I stopped by Tapah to refuel my d. I reset the journey trip meter and did 90kmh consistently for 60 odd kilometers on Ecopro and the consumption shows 27km/liter which equates to something like 3.7liter/100km while officially BMW quotes the d at 3.9liter/100km. But yeah, do you buy a 250k car to drive at 90kmh, most of us would say no.

Once I hit Sg Buloh-Damansara stretch and subsequently the city of PJ, the start stop nature drives the consumption upwards.

I have to agree with Prot.......just enjoy the ride.....fill 'er up when the time comes and enjoy her some more.......

Haha.. You are right. Just that i wanna find out how efficiency is the ECOPRO mode and see how PRO this technology can help us save.

Agree with Prot...just enjoying your babe to the fullest. Bought a BMW but drive it as Viva...haha....

I get approx. 8.6 for mixed driving and 10.1L/km for hard driving on the 316i...

The current 320d courtesy car which I am using how had a mileage of 177km on the clock when they loaned it to me returns 6.1L/km with mixed driving...diesel ftw...

Official website state 8.1l/100km on urban, I have been driving for 5 months, it is clocking 3300km now, my average fuel consumption is 10.1l/km on urban. It is a significant difference between the real vs paper statistics. How about your experience?
mine is , for urban drive-10.1, for highway drive often to ipoh and JB-7.6

i think the claimed 6.4 per 100km is true for 328i...mine clocked at 6.7 liter per 100km..._20140801_235138.JPG

I am 100% sure this is not a town use figure.

on the highway, this is possible.

i think there are no proper way of measuring FC because different people will have different driving styles and driving routes, conditions and etc.

However, measuring tank to tank, gives the best combined cycle estimates. The on-board measurements are an indicative figure only (depending on where you reset yours). If you reset your FC gauge just before you get stuck in traffic, you'll see 22L/100KM and other big numbers. If you reset your FC gauge just before a highway run, you will see 6L/100KM, but is that the realistic FC?

Pump full tank of petrol, reset your trip computer, drive.
at the next pump, calculate.
if you can get 6.7L/100km, well done. if not, you are not alone.

Yep...I always do that after I pump a full tank of petrol...

If 6.7L/100km is true then even my 316i kalah in FC battle lol. I'm only averaging 7.3L/100km on mostly highway travel!

dont get me wrong...agree with the method of calculating it...and i already knew it...same with other brand of vehicle...just to show the first time 6.7 figure show up for highway run...it never happened before...then at least the figure is around the claimed fuel consumption figure by bmw...lol
