dunno much bout dis thing.. but my mech said better use semi syn.. ppl said redline is damn good, can feel da different after each change. nvr use though. redline got semi syn ar?
bro, redline no semi, only fully and its very expensive, per bottle of 1 litre = RM 55, yes its highly rated in "motor oil bible", comparing with 20 other brand, redline fully synthetic 10w-40 is rated 2nd best after Amsoil (sorry amsoil not availlable in malaysia),

Oi.. geoff... you accountant ka? Hehehehehehe.........:D *joke joke lerrr*

I have used Redline and Q8 F1 before. Currently on Q8.
Both oil just as good.. but Redline tops, no doubt about it!

Cost is about RM300++ for both.

Benefits is priceless.... :D :D :D

Better pay a bit more... then suffer in the end.. i believe!
same like u, i have try redline fully 10w-40 for 3 oil change and Q8 F1 also 3 oil change, i finally decided to stick to Q8 F1 (both also good oil) reason of sticking back to Q8 coz its super quiet, in term of smoothness of gear drop, i find both also very good.

RM 189 for 4 litre, ENOUS is selling it, but if u go around BMW spareparts shop or along sunway where all the performance shop is situated, u might be able to get 10% discount

Based on my own experience and also after reading some articles from the web, cars after certain number years tend to have sludge build up. Due to wear and tear, there might be some hairline gaps between the piston rings and gaskets. Fully syntactic oil is very thin/low in viscosity and they easily get through these gaps and get burned.

My car's previous owner was using semi syntactic oil and when I bought over I left my car to my in a "so called trust worthy mechanic" for 1st service in Senawang. He flushed and replaced to some oil called Royal Purple with very low viscosity. Engine oil started to burn and I had to top up so many litres of oil. Again trusting this guy, I did a top overhaul. He also flushed my gear box which you are not supposed to do at all. I had to overhaul my gearbox as well.

Anyway morale of the story, full syntatic has very low viscosity and be careful before using it especially in our Malaysian weather. Hope my explanation helps...

Cheers...

Agree with you..

Quality oil will give you extra smoothness and quietness.. Best use for new engine or well taken cared engine.

10-50 Redline is good as the viscisity when hot is 50, perfect for our hot hot weather.

If you have the time, pay a visit to Mr Tang (Cosmic Elite Enterprise, Q8 Oil sole distributor) in Sri Damansara, the price is attractive and worth the drive!
