Looking at the post on V power. BMW seems to not like it. Which is the best petrol to use for BMW's?What difference does it make, in terms of performance and consumption?

Petronas gives good consumtion with average power;

V power gives good power but poor consumption;

Esso gives average performance with average consumtion;

Caltex is nice and smooth with decent consumtion;

Personally, I like Projet nice smooth power with good consumption.....

These are my personal findings.......it is subjective ok?

I'm petronas supporters. So obviously i will use petronas for whatever reason ... lol.

But I used to fill in shell normal oil (not v-power) ... and I experience bad fuel consumption ...

I enjoy much better fuel consumption with petronas primax.

But my uncle use caltex ... and he said it gave better power compared to other fuel ... he owned an E39.

I used to use only the best from Shell for ALL my cars since I started driving. I would even drive for miles to look for Shell rather than fill some other petrol. I switched to V Power when it was first introduced. I did try other like Petronas, Caltex. Mobil and BP just to check them out but always ended up going back to V-Power. The closest to V-Power in terms of performance is Caltex.

With V-Power, the performance increase is quite noticeable but the increase in fuel consumption is also very noticeable.

I had a bad experience with a clogged fuel filter, recently, although this has more to do with the fuel station that I regularly go to. This is exacerbated by the romors I have been hearing and the company supplied fuel card, I switched to Pertonas. Less performance but slightly better fuel consumption than V-Power and it is FREE ;) .

I tried Petronas, Shell, Esso n Projet for my ride. Esso n Petronas will give average perfomance n FC, Shell is suck,less perfomance n poor FC,Project will give a good FC n perfomance........stick to Project,u won't regret.....Just my opinion, no offend :D

Its rather interesting as most people tested different brands and have their own personal preferences. I think the quality of the Petrol Station tanks is important, some stations have very dirty tanks so your fuel filter will have problems filtering out the junk to give a smooth clean flow of fuel. Some stations had water contaminated petrol and your engine coughs for no reason, sometimes and clean up again.

I think the rule of thumb is to fill from a known station as often as possible and do that the day AFTER the tanker arrives to fill up their tanks!. Takes a day for the gasline impurities to settle down. The day before the tanker refill is also bad becuase lower level tanks means more gunk in the petrol!.

Some also say, don't fill during or after rainny days as water seapage will get into the tanks. I find Caltex very decent in quality. At least very consistent.

Urban legend ?. Common sense, I think.

I like Project but its abit hard to find and usually quite out of the way. I feel that my engine is smoother and gives me better than average mileage. Can't stand shell, not worth the extra moolah in terms of mileage, power and smoothness...

Used Shell (normal and V-power), engine rough and fuel consumption is high for my ride and wifeys.

Changed to Mobil/Esso earlier this year, smoother ride and better fuel consumption.

Fill Petronas for my UDM most of the time unless can't find one during a journey, why make the ang moh's rich. Political filling ekekkekeke :lol:
Personally, I find:
Projet = smooth, perfomance average, FC slightly better

Petronas = smooth, perfomance average, FC average

Esso/Mobil = smooth, perfomance average, FC average

Shell V-power(vapourising power, hehehe) = Excellent but costly, smooth, power to certain vehicles. No difference in my UDM but previous car FIAT UNO can feel the difference. Vapourises fast that's why make us think our FC is high. :nyehehe:

i just fill in caltex last week ... can feel the power yet still maintain the fuel consumption ... too bad petronas is nearer to my house.

but after use caltex, then i refill back with petronas, i experience bad fuel cunsumption for the first refill ... and then thing goes back normal on the 2nd refill ... lol ... caltex vortex + petronas primax = bad!! :p

Using V Power whenever possible. FC just average with better power.

Caltex good FC and good power.

Petronas only for the my proton....hehe

my old jalopy runs best on either Petronas or Projet as these two brand of petrol gives better fuel consumption and power (the later may be phsychological, but I think I can feel the car less sluggish, wor). Used Shell petrol but the car appears to be sluggish and gives very poor fuel consumption readings.

I usually fill in Shell or Petronas depending on convenient location. Today I stopped by at Prtojet. Ron92 priced at 1.48/l and Ron97 at 1.52/l. How does this 4 sen difference work out in the petrol quality if at all? Rgds, Faiz
