Hi all, I hv a slight problem with the RFT tyre on my 328i Luxury F30 which has a slight bump or bulge on its sidewall...I noticed only 1 tyre which is the right front side. Is it common for RFT to hav this of problem? Any solution?? Can claim warranty ah coz only 2 months old...

Btw, car is fitted with Pirelli Cinturato P7 225/45/R18....I have read somewhere in this group before about this issue.. But that was a GoodYear tyre....so I'm nt sure if this Pirelli is giving the same problem....only done 6000km..

Best is to take it back to the dealer and ask about it. You can also contact the local Pirelli supplier for more info.

Have you went into any pothole lately? That's the first thing they will check when you bring it back and the tyre experts have some special way to tell what happened to the tyre.

Pls keep us posted after making the complain to SC. 6000km should be under warranty but let's see what the outcome is. I'm on Goodyear but so far don't see any bulging at 6000km.

Mine is also a 328 Luxury. Had a similar problem last year, mileage was about 9,000km.

Send to SC but was told not under warranty by BMW. So, SC arranged technicians from goodyear to inspect. The technician from goodyear showed me some scratches on the tyre surface as the "proof" that the bulge was caused by my driving skills. Scratches were very tiny and need to look very closely in order to locate. Frankly, except a new tyre, how can we avoid scratches on the tyre surface? Furthermore, these scratches were not deep cut.

Anyway, no point to argue with them. For safety reason, I bought a new goodyear RFT in order to have the same tyre tread. But, this is my last purchase of goodyear tyre.

Same thing happened to me. Vote with your wallet, just change brands when the time comes.

Jason :D

im facing same problem, 3 tyres bulging after 4 months bought the 328 sport. They keep point fingers each other and finally the result is driver fault (high external impact cause tyre bulging,) mine is Goodyear RFT. The scratches on the tyre surface only about 3mm.

Lot of F30 owners dealing with this issue. We should log a report to consumer tribunal.

Bro GY RFT is susceptible to bulging if it's not properly inflated. It's hard to win the case unless you have all your evidence and facts recorded. It's your words against the manufacturer R&D and test report. How do you proof that you have inflated your tyre to the right pressure? How do you proof that you did not hit any pothole or hit a sharp object? The manufacturer will use the mark on your tyres to proof their case agonist you. Did you notice that they make markings and take photos when examining your tyres?

My F30 328 Luxury has more problems than a tyre. Since Jul 2012, all my visits to service centres shall be at least 2 - 3 days minimum. Only once, the visit was 1 day - because I waited the replacement part for 1 month.

Just sent in Tue this week, the car is still in service centre due to air conditioner problem. I found the air conditioner problem in Aug 2013. Sent in once in Mar 2014 and now is 2nd round.

I found a 2 in crack on my leather seat last year, BMW Malaysia told me it was natural leather pattern. Now, another 6 in crack develops next to the old crack, the answer is still natural. I just wrote an email to BMW Malaysia, if they don't replace the leather seat, they give me no choice but to sue them. Previously, I already engaged a lawyer to issue a letter of demand to BMW to fix my car problem. I have all documentations for the defects, number of visits, durations in the workshop, let the court to judge what kind of product BMW Malaysia produced!

Hi bro, looks like your ride is giving you some issues. Likewise mine had different issues (engine noise seeping through the firewall, steering vibration noise, juddering side mirrors, etc) and I left my car in the workshop for weeks while they rectify the issues and thankfully they did but at the cost of damaging some of my interior panels but they owe up to their mistakes and replaced the damaged panels. During the weeks my car was in the workshop the dealer arranged a couple of courtesy cars for me to drive (it was a joy to drive different models as I have the opportunity to try out different BMW's on the road for an extended period) and I managed to compare the same model that I have with theirs and found that each car had its own unique problems (poor factory QC I reckon)!

As for the cracks in the leather seats, I believe other owners should also be experiencing the same issue over time. I've taken the liberty to purchase the BMW leather care product and apply it to my seats once in 1-2 months and so far it has been doing a great job protecting the leather seats from drying up under our harsh weather condition. The car is almost a year old and I'm still monitoring the car for any other faults.

I also have the same problem like engine noise, steering vibration noise (which was caused by steering rack and got it replaced). I can leave with the engine noise. I don't have any complaint against the workshop and service centre. They also provided a courtesy car when my car was in the workshop for 6 weeks continuously.

What I cannot tahan is: there is no accountability! Everything is "natural", "tear and wear", "driving skills".. but nothing about the quality and reliability of the components/parts BMW has put in. No doubt, BMW is a nice car to drive. But, for my first BMW E39, I didn't have to put my car in the workshop for more than 12 weeks in the first 24 months. My this F30 is a great disappointment.

Just like the goodyear RFT, I told the technicians, I have 34 years of driving experiences and owned at least 8 cars in the past. I only learnt about tyre bulge when I have this F30 and goodyear RFT. I don't think it is due to my driving skills. Else, I should have bulge in all 4 tyres in this F30 and another 8 pieces from other cars. I saw goodyear's latest advertisement. They offer 1-to-1 exchange if the tyre is damanged. They may continue to spend millions to advertise, no way I will buy another goodyear product.

For BMW, I told them the same simple fact, my car is parked at covered car parks. If it is "tear and wear" or "natural", all the seats should have the same. But, now, only the driver seat. It is a great disappoint to own the first batch of F30. Very disappointing.

Yes im noticed they took photos and marked the tyres and their senior engineer also send me a email for the technical report. The scratches only 3mm wide, did 3mm wide scratches is a sign of high external impact that cause the tyre bulging? If yes, they have a serious reliability issue. How can we avoid scratches on the tyre surface. Anyone can proof to me that their tyre dont have any scratches on the surface.

What BMW action for this issue? tyres bulging issue happened since day one until now, for the record there's one F30 owner got tyre bulging after 3 days he got the cars.

Why is BmW malaysia is taking so easy on this??this is life matter for god sake...tyres are the only thing that has contact with the road....definitely there's no way in compromising it....sad to see it to b like this....don't tell me AB is behaving like VW malaysia or even sime Darby auto connexion...

because nobody took this matter to official complaint or lawsuit, dont want waste their time to fight for consumer right. Some case looks like its impossible to win but look at the story behind how 'Caution Im Hot' printed on all Mc'donalds coffee cup.

ysdy I discovered by third GY RFT had a burge eventually it will ended with a big crack. Really mad with AB claiming that tyre is wear n tear after it is being used when I filed a complaint last year. Took my car last year May n after 6 months had to settle with rm2k plus for 2 new Continental RFT replacement on my own luckily it is still running pretty well. It is strange that GY RFT always burge at the rear side of the car. Other than local agent who else will entertain our complaint?

Any new potential F30 owners take note to refuse any new car with GY tyres. This issue has been an ongoing discussion ever since the birth of this car here in Bolehland.

I received my car in Jan this year from AB Penang. Before I received my car, I had confirmed with my SA that it won't be GY, instead I got the Bridgestone. So far so good for 6000km ride. I am not sure about other AB dealers, but AB is well aware of the GY problem, that is why they will not use GY tyres anymore for all of their new cars.

There's plenty previous posts GY RFT esp. 18 in rims 3 tyres bulging in less than 6 months. Very sensitive to hitting potholes and proper tyre pressure. On Bridgestone touch wood so far good.
