i would say those who live in town area such as kl or jb.. we are all living with our debt.. nothing is ours yet till the day we setle the loan at the bank...

the ppl who living in "kampung area" are really the king.. like my cousins and uncle... living on their own land.. own house... but not as nice compared to where i'm living now laa... but no debt... but lots of mosquitos...

it's still possible to live in the city and be free of debt. just get rid of those unnecessary expenses and bad habits. like buying a car you can't actually afford.

save a bit money and take one nice 7 series settle the car cash...my opinion lah, only a stupid person who buy a car that takes a loan...by the time you finish paying your car the value of the car is less than half from the price you purchase..that is confirm ready...so think wisely..hehehe...just and opinion...insyaallah...assalaimualaikum and good day...

Nah.... just do it. Why think a lot and be sorry later:mad: . I think you are the only one who knows whether u can afford a BMW or not. Others can advise but the power is yours....... ;) Try not to think so much.

hahaha :p .. well i've made up my mind already.. gonna get a civic 2.0 and later only get the bimmer.. maybe start with an E30.. cheap only that one... more or less than 25k  ... then send to this place in SS19 for the body works and what ever...

start with something simple laa :) ... and tell ppl that i like the E30 better.. classic look (but actually don't have cash to get E36 or E46 :( )..

cheers :)

or u can still get oldest e36 around and start bikin again
at least no rust issue

thinking of that too

will an E36 maintenance cost a bomb too ??
is it true that the gear box will take 12k ??
there's no E36 gear box in "potong kereta / kereta potong" (which ever correct) shop ??

i think the normal maintenance for the wear and tear wouldn't be that high laa.. but for parts like gear box, radiator, bearings, bush, aircond unit (compressors, condenser, cooling coil).. the normal stuff i mean..

oh btw just for the record
I dun own a bimmer..yet :D
loan still processing
scared people will flame me for memandai2 hehe
anyway make a wise decision, happy hunting & gdluck bro!

Glad to see that you're still looking for a Bimmer although you've "decided" to get a Civic :) A Civic is a good car, but a 3 is a great car! Suggest you don't go older than an E36. Fewer issues like rust, scarce spares, etc.

And don't worry about getting into HP to purchase a car. There's nothing wrong with the economic concept of leveraging and asset rental. Any businessman worth his salt will never make money using his own if he can get financing from banks or the capital market. As for term, any finance man will tell you that the lower the cost (interest rate) the longer the term you should take, and vice versa. I won't go into a boring DCF calculation to show you why.

When I bought a Myvi for my parents, I still bought it on HP although I could have written a cheque for the 50k. Why? Because now that the income tax regime has changed to self-assessment, one of the triggers for the IRD to initiate an audit of a taxpayer is if he buys a car in cash. They do track car transactions because when I bought a Merc for my wife, within 2 months there was a letter from the IRD asking me for details of how I purchased it. Used car transactions may not fall into this net....but then again who knows? A wise man would not buy a car in cash if he wants to avoid appearing in the IRD radar.

BTW, I bought my first Bimmer, a used 2002Tii, when I was earning 2k a month (when the RM was worth a lot more) and enjoyed every minute of pulling birds off the Tin Mine dance floor into it :D

Live the spirit of the UDM if you can Syahril!

well so far the hunting has so many different feedbacks... it's the same like owning a honda... some ppl said the maintenance is damn high but as a honda owner, it's cheap man... my SIR 4 have no problem at all.. only after 400km my gas tank will be empty... could be a leak somewhere... have not been rectified yet.. only managed to be chase away by few mechanics..

so which model are getting ??? how much is it if i may ask...

Syahril,

Depending on your income and financial wise, i would suggest you to get a E36 328 year 97. However these is depend on your interest. For me 325 would be a nice choice. If possible try to find a manual trans. but please take note 325 that available in Malaysia is only between year94 and latest year95. The suggestion is depending on how willing you paying the roadtax for 325 and 328. The roadtx for 328 is double the 325 roadtax

BTW, here i enclosed the thread for you to view and study in order to make your decision

Happy reading and make a decision that will never dissappointed you in the future.

thanks bro,

i was just looking at an E36 328.. year 96.. selling price is about 60k to 65k... very nice condition.. but the leather seat looks old laa... so is the price ok or not ??

it comes with 4 massage seat.. 18" M3 sport rims.. Pirelli tire.. M3 side mirror (6k according to the seller) but the engine already do about 300k KM...

there's no sign of any oil leak at the engine and he's an office mate.. so anytime can screw him up and down if any problems..

is this a good buy or not ?? there's also some extra feature in the car that i'm not that expert to explain back to you guys.. i just sya yes yes yes just now...

so anyway, looking forward to feedbacks... and have a nice safe and fun weekends...

Sounds like the right price range, Syahril. An E36 is a good car (I had one too) and is still current and cool. Leather seats can be changed easily and you know the owner. If it drives well, has a good maintenance record, etc, this is the sort of car you should start off with to satisfy your BMW itch without taking too much risk. Check it out further, ask yourself what's the downside of risking 60k and make a decision.

If I were you, I'd satisfy that itch :)
