Planning on buying a E38 730i.

Hello everyone. I am thinking on trading in my 1989 mercedes 300ce with a 1995 E38 730i, reasons being that the E38 has always been a favourite car, my late father used to own a E23 732i and i would love an early BMW V8.

My questions are,
1. How easy is it to maintain an E38 here in Malaysia?
2. Are parts easily available?
3. Any recommended mechanics or workshops in the Klang Valley area?
4. Your experiences in owning an E38.

The car in question seems to have a good engine and gearbox, but aesthetically its not really in good shape. It needs new bumpers and side trimmings, and the interior needs a bit of work too.

This would be my first BMW, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi there kid!

E38 is one of my favourite car. Maintenance.. is bloody expensive if u go to the wrong place. But if you get a trust worthy mech, it's such an underrated car to drive and maintain.

A 730iL is a M52b30 or M54b30 engine.. parts are cheap and easy to maintain.

The 730i that im getting has a M60B30 engine in it it seems, the V8 engine. Any thoughts on that?

At the moment now the interior needs some work, but the engine and gearbox is in good condition.

That is one of my beloved engine. The M60. I have the 4 litre though. It screams like no others

Oh nice. Is there a big difference between the m60b30 and m60b40?
