Moral of the story: buy windscreen insurance first (15% premium)

A normal respray should not pose any risk to the glass right?

A normal repsray should not pose any risk to the glass. Unless the repainter is aboslutely careless...

Kaniz,
Whats the difference between an original and non original windscreen..?

Have sat in an e38 with non original windscreen. Seriously, I don't find any significant difference with the original.

Hello brader. The non original windscreen can distort your vision. The quality of some are so bad, it can even cause headache

Changed my windscreen last year at DrCermin. RM700 only with new rubber. So far no fenin fenin la....hehe

So is your paintjob done? Just sent mine in, couldn't tahan the crappy paint any longer. Hoping to get it back by end of Dec.

Just finish my paint job with refurbished headlights and almost new tailights. Looking like a MILLION DOLLARS..!!!::

Also I think I am done on the mechanical parts replacement. The last was changing the vanos seal, hoses and petrol filter. Its so smooth now. I have spent well over RM20k for now.

Just wondering what happened to your chrome boot lid strip.

Interior next?

Gosh you are right. Did not realize the chrome boot lid strip. Thanks for informing. I am going back to the painter anyways. Not happy with some of the trims as some were still using old loose clips. I have ask them to order all the relevant clips and will go back there.

Also must be my luck just today got a stone chip whilst travelling on the front windshield..arghhhhhh

Yes soon it will be the interior next...

I am starting to address interior stuff. The electrical Headrest for the rears are not working. After opening up discovered the sliding mechanism cannot work but the motor is ok. These are plastic tubelike casing for the cylinder to slide up and and down which are broken. I guess these plastics have their live past their life span. Have to search for parts. The hunting goes on.....
Also the wiper nozle tubes came off the nozles. I guess after painting it was not fixed properly. This is resolved.

Just thought I have dealt with all the mechanical issues. Was just starting to enjoy the carpet ride. Until a few days ago " Engine Fail Safe" error pop up on the screen. My mechanic diagnosed it and said throttle issue so had it replaced with a used part. Was ok for a few hours and then it came back. It was limping like misfire sort of problem...

Any advice guys..?

have u check with the kick down button? it might get stuck

I am dropping by the workshop later. Will have the mechanic check on that.

But how would the kick down button have impact on the engine limping..?

saw ur car at the workshop just now. the mech said they changed to another throttle body. one of our friend here face this problem before, the limp mode but it turns out the kick down button keep on pressing. so better have it check too
