BMWCM JUNE 2012 MELAKA HISTORICAL OFFICIAL DRIVE - "THE PAINTBALL CHALLANGE IN MELAKA"
Route: Kuala Lumpur To Melaka.
Date: Saturday 16th. June 2012
Meeting Point @ Sungai Besi Toll BHP Petrol Kiosk / KFC
Registration @ 7.30am
- Collect your car sticker, Indemnity Form and T-shirt.
- Make payment for Lunch and T-shirt.
- Return Indemnity form after signing.
7.45am – Safety Briefing by Marshall Convoy Coordinator.
8.00am – Convoy Depart to Simpang Ampat Toll.
9.00am – Convoy Regroup at Simpang Ampat Toll and depart to Melaka Town via B/road.
10.30am - Regroup in Melaka Town for 1 hour break.
11.30am - Convoy proceed to PaintBall Venue (Flash Point Bkt Katil)
12.30pm - Lunch (Buffet Style @RM10/pax - Lunch Menu a bit later :4
2.00pm - .... and the FUN begins ... :top: ...
5.00pm - Game ends with light refreshment and prize giving ceremony.
Venue for Dinner will be arranged (Fresh Ikan Bakar) by JFT63 and we will lead the remaining group to dinner venue.
Important Info for the Melaka Convoy
Although this is a short drive, please have your cars checked for brakes and tyre condition. We will use the basic ruling of Official Drives with groups of 10 cars max. We will break up into 3 groups with a departure interval of 5 minutes.
As there might be a presence of 'Traffic' along the way, I am suggesting that we drive at a controlled pace.
Based on the list, there will be a lot of 'Seasoned' drivers around thus for those newbies, please adhere and take some advise from them but whatever it may be,

CHECK LIST BEFORE THE START OF JOURNEY.
- Check all fluids (radiator water, brake fluids, power steering fluid)
- Check ALL tyres’ pressure/conditions inclusive of spare tyre.
- Check Brake pads and disc.
- Check Engine Oil.
- Check all Emergency Tools are available – jack, pliers, screwdriver, wheel spanner, Emergency reflector, diagnostic tools.
- Check wiper blades and apply Rain-X (if possible)
- Fuel Up the car for the journey.
- Top-up the Touch N Go card (at least RM150 for the journey) and use Smart-Tag
- Bring a GPS or Navigation Device to assist in your journey.
- Bring a Walkie talkie and remember to fully charged it.
- Bring a Car charger for your hand phone.
- Bring a Camera or Handy cam to take photos and video shot of the trip.
- Bring some plastic bags for light rubbish or in case somebody throw up.
- Bring some light medication for sea sick, headache etc.
- Pack some water, hot coffee (or Livita/Red Bull) as light refreshment.
- Pack some light snack/ sweets in the event you are feeling hungry.
- Get a goodnights rest before the drive.
RULES AND REGULATION WHEN IN A CONVOY
- Do NOT overtake the LEAD car at any time unless he signals you to do so.
- OBEY the Marshall guidance and instruction at ALL time.
- Drive safely at all times and keep within the speed limit while on the highway.
- Wear seat belts at all time for drivers and passengers.
- Keep your headlight and fog “ON” during the convoy.
- Keep at least 2 car distances when following the car in front of you. This is to allow enough braking distance in case of heavy traffic.
- Do not speed and endanger other motorist and pedestrian when driving in town area.
- At traffic lights, use all the lanes and ensure you follow the Marshalls to clear the lights/obstacles.
- In the event of any emergency, switch on your hazard lights and slowly move to the emergency lane of the road.
- If you cannot keep up with the convoy, just signal “LEFT” to allow the car behind to overtake you. (Not to worry – the sweeper will keep you company).
- Use your walkie talkie to keep in touch with the latest development or change of route. Do not talk unnecessary when using the walkie talkie.
- In case of any deviation from the schedule route by participant, the participant shall inform the Marshall at the next possible opportunity via hand phone or walkie talkie.
Breakdown Procedures
- In the event of any emergency or break down of the car, the person affected shall switch on the hazard lights and slowly move to the emergency lane of the road.
- The convoy shall continue with only the sweeper staying behind to lend any assistance to the car that have problem. Marshall shall take over as the Sweeper for the convoy.
- Marshall shall inform the Lead car of the situation.
- Lead car shall proceed to the next R&R stop area. The convoy shall wait and regroup entire convoy with assistance of Marshalls.
- Upon checking in with Sweeper if further help is needed, Lead car and convoy will proceed to destination. Sweeper will assist stranded car to safe zone/await pickup.
- Sweeper will proceed to destination once stranded car has a firm plan of action going forward
Roles of Lead, Sweeper and Marshall Cars
Lead Car -
Set the pace for the convoy within the speed limit on the highway. The lead car shall keep constant contact with Sweeper and Marshalls to ensure convoy in keep in formation.
Sweeper –
The Sweeper shall ensure the convoy in keep in formation and shall inform the Lead car to speed up or slow down when the formation of the convoy is breaking up. The sweeper shall also provide assistance to any cars in the convoy in the event of car breakdown or emergency case.
Marshall -
The Marshall shall sweep back and forth in between the convoy groups. He shall ensure that the convoy formation is keep intact. The Marshall instructs and controls any car that is found to be driving too dangerously or recklessly.
