Was drving back from Penang, and at about km 430 as i was approaching a bridge i see 2 flashes coming from the top of the bridge.Automatic speed camera?Have not seen this before, can anybody verify?

Fifty views and not a single reply, looks like i am the first joker to get busted by this camera!

Roughly where is KM420? Do let us know how fast u were going and how much they want to charge you :p

It's around rawang, i think, i was doing about 140 when i saw two flashes... now i guess i will just have to wait for the summons to come in the mail....

Oh dear, I was there twice last week.......and a GT3 went past there last week too. eoj, have u seen a speed camera there before?

Not too familiar w the km indications.

Are you referring to the overhead bridge restaurant? If so, yes, there are speed cameras there.

There are 3 as well at the Bangi exit. Not too sure if its still working.

I've balsted through the Sungai Buluh ones plenty of times and not seen a flash or got a ticket.

The one at km 430ish, was a normal looking bridge over the highway, first time ever that i have seen a flash after driving past. Can't have been some tourist up top with a camera taking pictures?

The car behind me got flashed too.

Hope this is not some new speed camera thing thats going to pop up on all the overhead bridges.

Only plus side is that all the way back from Penang this was the only bridge that flashed me.

AFAIK, unlike traffic light cameras, speed cameras don't use flash, do they?

Was it at night?

Can't be much use if they flash frequently - motorists will know exactly where the camera is at.

The one at Bangi uses flash. I saw the car in front got flashed, so I slowed down to 90km/hr...no flash! Think can safely assumed these cameras are speed traps.

Lee,
I think this was discussed before and I DUN think they are speed cameras...those mounted right in front of Hungry Jacks restaurant....KL bound.

More like traffic monitoring purpose.

Guys,
Those that flashes in UK are permanent speed cameras called GATSOs...I think.

Logically & I am guessing - portable speed cameras will be hard pressed to have a flash unit......cos the power to run the flash will be quite a feat.....unless they hook it to the patrol car like in Australia!

anyway, thanks for warning but did u think the flash would be enough or even necessary in day time?

HAIYA.. got captured by a new set of speed cameras..

last night during my return trip back to KL from alor star, just before the exit to Rawang.. after a left sweeping corner there's a overhead flyover, got snap.

i was traveling about 150km/h.. in front of me was a perdana that didn't budge, so slow down.. then saw two white bright flashes right at the bridge.. shit.. it's working..

so becareful out there..

around rawang?if it's after rawang exit (b4 the new rawang selatan) when ur heading to KL then thats their usual spot..behind those bushes.. coz i've came across few times within these 3 months and most of the time they're there..when reach the place always drive 110

OSflanker,

haven't gotten a ticket from rawang to ipoh for the past 3 years. but i've seen cameras at the first flyover after dsara utama toll (to north), before the last flyover in the bushes after the kota dsara turn off (to south), after the overhead restaurant on the left among the bushes (to north) and the last one at the overhead bridge after the sungai buloh turn off (to north).

aishayyyy.... really really hate them speedtraps... especially the ones wid the road blocks... **sigh**

We shall find out. I just flew past that area over the last weekend.

no.. it was on the flyover.. saw it again, this time in the morning.. very small..
