I believe you can still pump without mykad (like foreigner), just that you wont be able to get subsidised fuel, that is if you are eligible in the first place!

IMHO the main issue here is not about making sure the subsidy reaches its target group. If you read between the lines, the government is in deep shit. Meaning, no money. The situation is so bad in such a way that if every EPF depositors decides to withdraw all their savings today, I would estimate only 10% will get the money and the rest will nganga. What you see in your EPF statements are just figures. Yes, only on paper. How could this happen? This is mainly due to mismanagement from the previous, previous administration and not to mention corruption. We and the generations to come are going to pay the price. This is what the future going to be - expect to pay RM500K for a proton saga in ten years time, engineers and doctors will have to drive taxis to make extra money, graduates with phDs are no longer a big deal, people from African continent (so called students) will make up 50% of the Malaysian population and Bangsar will turn into a ghetto.

I echo Funfer's statement.

Sad but true, past mismanagement from MAS share buyback to PKFZ fiasco are all starting to haunt us and future generations. Another example is the ITIS (Integrated Traffic Information System) project of which massive electronic signboards are erected all over Klang Valley that is of little use, as there is little choice of alternative routes. Cost? RM300 million.

Despite the massive natural resources, the government is facing financial difficulties to even finance its own expenditure and expenses, and to rely on oil revenue from Petronas is only a short term solution. The challenge for the ruling party is to trim down the large bureaucracy, improve system of delivery and to attract more FDI to increase the per capita income of the rakyat. Easier said than done, but it has to be done or else a grim future awaits us.

Make no mistake about it, Malaysia is still one of the best country in the world to live and it is important for everyone make an informed decision in the next general election to bring the necessary changes to ensure that we will continue to live in peace and harmoniously in this beautiful country.

..and then of course there's that RM1b the brokers pocketed for military aircraft deals. more & more malaysian are beginning to be aware of the importance of exercising their voting rights, but trouble is, which political faction is capable of saving our future generation?

p/s- not only EPF. a rush by unit trust holders of PNB funds will cripple the country overnight.

yup; altho a rush in the near future is unlikely..

Implementation will be too expensive to have mykad readers at all pumps nationwide. Perhaps mykad readers only for cash transactions? Nowadays, with technology, a lot of info can be linked I am sure, so for credit card transactions, you shouldn't need to scan your MyKad again to get your subsidy info.

Wonder how its gonna be like come May 1st.. As usual April 30th will be the National Pump Petrol day kakaka

Just a point to ponder. Lets see how they diffenciate the difference between a 1995 318i with a 2009 C180 compressor and a 2010 Perdana.

Or a 1980 Datsun Laurel 2800 or a 1979 Chevy Impala 327 cubic inch which equates to 5.4 litres......theres one for sale tho...

their ignorance will simply continue. just like road tax, the perdana will be in same catagory as the 4G63 monsters, whereas a RM350k Merc or Audi will pay less due to their 1.8 liter cubic capacity. talk about dumb..

i guess with stewpid policymakers, forced induction is way to go.

jus buy a tub of ghee la... we are all being screwed big time... subsidy my arse!
