We complain about the clowns in government. Disenchanted, we vote in another bunch of clowns. Hope triumphs over experience.

And yes, pswchan is correct in her assertion that we deserve the government we voted in. In a couple of years, the fun and games shall begin again.

Tok, tok, tok, no use lah. Just vote-vote-vote. We deserve the gomen we voted for, so all this is OUR OWN FAULT ! Until we can all WAKE UP from our slumber can we benefit ALL. For now, blame no one else please.:motz:

i agree completely. i also love your avatar :)

This is dumb. So, for higher CC cars : paying high road tax, and high $$ for imports are not enough, and now we have to pay EXTRA for gas ?

They should just charge RM4/litre, and demolish all highway tolls, and automobile import taxes.
This is STUPID.. so, people who owned a kancil can drive around town wasting gas and get subsidies ?

I have a feeling this thread will be locked/towed soon. Before this happens, let me tell you where this is going to lead us. It is a totally psychological game. Initially, it sounded like it came from a primary school dropout. Just before implementation, a 'saviour' will arrive.. You'll get a slightly better deal. Maximum percentage for income tax will drop to 26%. Happy? Because you are not entitled for the subsidy, now you got to pay maximum GST of only 8.38% instead of 10%. That's already some savings. OK, then they'll tell you RON97 is a total crap. Let's bring in RON98 (research method fuel) but you have to pay RM3.10/litre. Expensive? Basket..drive BMW also cannot afford to buy fuel. I got to go to China to borrow money because you burned so much fuel during your track day. In Europe, people are paying RM6.20/litre you know? Heh heh (you stupid rakyat..) Tell you what. We'll bring in Euro 4 diesel to replace the current diesel so that you can save even more. And, Euro 4 is cleaner too. That's what I learned in Copenhagen and all of us agreed. RM3.15/litre OK with you? All these will happen because we like to make noise. As long as you are still alive and paying taxes you can never win, no matter which government is in control.

no wonder i'm not into politics.. i don't even understand the games they play. just like cricket & lawn bowl lah.

This is small time politics only. Kid's stuff. Big time politicians talk about world domination.

Of course they'll leave out the fact that the average per capita income of the whole of Europe combined is about 2 times that of Malaysia. He He He....

Some European country is at 10 times our per capita income...

Was just wondering why the detail of the implementation would be release on the date of implementation.

Do they have something to hide?

Time to downgrade to 318i ..
There goes my dream to own a 530 i ...

eh wait - can buy 318 and SC it !!!

Fuel price by car size

By ZALINAH NOORDIN

PETALING JAYA: The bigger your car, the more you will have to pay for petrol from May 1.
This is because the Government is going to change the way fuel is subsidised.
It is planning for a fuel pricing mechanism that will ensure only targeted groups, particularly those from the lower-income, will receive fuel subsidy.
Also, foreigners who drive into the country to fill up their tanks will not be eligible for subsidy and will have to pay more for fuel.
“The bigger the engine, the higher petrol will cost,” Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said yesterday.
The move was based on the assumption that those in the lower income group would normally drive a car with a lower engine capacity and thus be eligible for the subsidy, he said.
“For RON95 petrol, the subsidy is 30 sen per litre. The current price of RON95 petrol is RM1.80 compared with the actual price of RM2.10.
“Malaysians who are not eligible are those who drive a higher engine capacity car or non-Malaysians. They will have to pay RM2.10 or more for RON95,” he told a press conference after launching the new corporate identity of the F&N soft drinks division here yesterday.

I always wonder how the G can associate "richness" with engine capacity size..
It's like me, a person who drives a E36 328, is richer than someone who bought a brand new merc SLK 200.
It's also almost saying the fatter a person is..the richer he is..
:)

Now is test water stage.....

today's remark, generally, lower income earners drive smaller CC cars....
if they shud really go for this method, high CC pays for more petrol,....didn't mention by brand of car, yet.

RON95 has highest subsidy, which is 30sens, therefore the new RON95 will be about Rm2.10.
However, I remember previously it was said that RON97 and V-power has very little subsidy because those who can afford buying RON97 and V-Power can afford to pay, means....RON97 and VP should not increase that much....need search back the last time this was announced....

There should be 1Subsidy for 1Malaysia since high income earners already paying MUCH higher tax.

I am not surprised you have to bring along your income tax account number (SG number) as your ID every time you visit the petrol station. They can straight away tell whether you are eligible for the subsidy or not.

PETALING JAYA: Petrol subsidies should be removed gradually and the quantum of the increase in pump prices should not be too big, Fomca secretary-general Muhammad Shaani Abdullah said.

He also suggested that the Government allow a monthly quota of 200 litres of petrol for each motorist regardless of the car engine capacity.
“Make them pay the non-subsidised price only if they use more than 200 litres a month. This will let people know the true cost of petrol. - GOOD SUGGESTION in my view, our saviour?

“The increase in petrol prices should be by a few sen and it must be done slowly so as not to burden the people,” he said.

Muhammad Shaani explained that if petrol price was to be determined by engine capacity, it did not necessary mean that the subsidy would reach the poor.

“Having too many variables in a system would open it to abuses. How is the Government going to implement such a system? You want a simple system and not a complicated one.

Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin welcomed the Government’s move to ensure that fuel subsidies be enjoyed by those who deserve it.

“The subsidies should be made available to motorcyclists or people who drive Proton Sagas and Kancils,” he said.
- "smartest" suggestion
Malaysian Automotive Association president Datuk Aishah Ahmad said a thorough study on the fuel subsidy mechanism should be made to avoid any glitches.

“The most important thing is to be fair to all parties, regardless of whether one drives a luxury car or otherwise,” she said.

They are scared if people come out with all sorts of ideas to outsmart the system before it is being implemented. You know la..Malaysians are genius lot. Malaysia boley!

current payment steps in petrol stations
1) insert bonuslink or any loyalty card
2) insert credit card - approved, fuel up - fuel price depends on which fuel you take, card verification is about 30secs
3) fuel up and go

future payment steps
1) insert loyalty card
2) insert IC - verification takes 5mins
3) key in car number - another 5mins for verification - opps...got saman, cannot refuel :p if ok, then proceed to >
4) insert credit card - 30secs
5) fuel up and go

i just wonder when our goverment will ever grow up.makes me think are they naive or just plain stupid!!!
they seems to be always coming up with new ' INTELLIGENT ' ideas on not just petrol subsidy but other matters too that would just last for few week, months or a year and waste Billions of Ringgit on implimation.

its an infringement of our privacy to force us to disclose such information to non-authorised sources. its not alright to put the info into our mykad, or force us to show our tax returns just to buy basic necessities.

1) Proposal goes in
2) Consultant hired to conduct the study
3) Implement it
4) Rakyat suffer
5) The government prihatin - pull back on the plan - restudy
6) Goto Item (1)

:stupid: ...

hm...i think that the information would not be stored in our MyKad as it would take ages (not to say inconvenient too) to get every Msians' MyKad updated...most probably the reader would get info like our IC number and connect to a database where the information is stored...
