had my smg reprogrammed earlier.. the gear wont engage to 1 or R.. had to call tow truck to come and send to AB.. damn!! car got scratched on the rear bumper and my front splitter was chipped off.. :(

anyhow, after checking, there was no mechanical failure on the transmission, and quite surprised it's just software problem... was expecting the worst!! phiuh..

Gosh....initially when I bought my e46 from naza, I was kinda worried about not being able to service at Auto Bavaria. But looking at the horror stories from this forum, perhaps its a blessing in disguise.

In any case, I've bought 2 cars from naza, n have not sent any of them even for the first service. I'll stick with my regular workshop lah.

Oh...naza still owes me a second key...and its already 6 mths....sigh.... :(

:( sorry to hear that man!!! after all u've done to the car.. so have u rectified the smg prob with ur ride??

back to topic..i haven't had any experience sending my rides to AB other than my mum's and they screwed that up too!! i've been sending all my bimmers current and previous to the same guy who is an independent wshop owner(prev with EKS) and am very very happy..haven't had any probs so far.even my mum's car will be sent there come next service time..
he even has all the latest softwares to keep up with current models..

after hearing all the horror stories from u guys i don't think i ever will be sending any of my cars to AB and the lot...

..it takes just one bad experience to erase all your pleasures you had with your UDM...

For my case, I am fortunate not to have problems till date - except for the recalled part for the ignition coils, which I replaced all 4 to bosch.

Apart from that I do not have to face crappy AB service centers / authorise service centers.

Even so, BMW authorised service centers should be competent to support the cars they sell - technical know how and knowledge and integrity is so important - that was Zul's point

Bestness Motorsport????? that guy one man show one...

maybe i should send my car to S'pore next time. At least, customers there get better treatment than in Malaysia.. ;)
but gotta check it out if they service CBU BMW from Malaysia tho!

Zul: Sorry to hear about your experience bro...

Problem is, if you decide to buy a Brabus, Naza's service isnt all that good as well..

My bro-in-law bought a brand new E60 530i from Naza back in 2004 and they only gave him 6 months of warranty. A myriad of problems occured since the purchase, of the worst being the gearbox failing costing RM30k to replace.

I dont exactly know the specifics of it but i know the entire gearbox was replaced by M1 with a new unit and the car was only 1.3years old..

With something like the gearbox which doesnt fail too often, infact, isnt supposed to even fail for many years if properly maintained, i would assume they would offer some form of goodwill warratny or maybe even paying 50% of the cost?

AB is generally incompetent but i would rather buy from AB than Naza or Ming Heong. With BMW nowadays, its like buying durian.. Just hope the one you buy is not basi when you crack it open at home.

Gotta depend on alot of luck!

There are dealers with inexperienced mechanics, and there are dealers with the ever so busy chief mechanic. Given the amount of investment, it is paramount that we check out the service department before we check out our new rides, and make sure there are reliable, knowledgable folks working there.

As a car nut, I found that going to specialists (that will undoubtedly become your best friends) is the best route. Of course, if you are buying a new car, you have to go to the dealer, however, based on my experience, dealers generally suck regardless of country(had bad experience in Malaysia, US & Canada). There are many lemon cases on the Audi TT, Mazda RX7, BMW, Ferrari, if you do a search on Google.

It is a love/hate relationship with cars :)
