Wah.. pretty aged ya.. additive failing soon..

oh and i thought the 320i is magnesium engine hence not recommended using low viscosity oils 0w-40 and 5w-40..must at least be 10w-40..but apparently it's not magnesium engine right?

320i N46 is still aluminum, same like the N42. Magnesium is the N52 6-potter. As a matter of fact, I believe the authorised SC only carry one type of engine oil and that's the 5w-30.

It‘s just oil. My preference is still 5w-30 with LL-04 for my 320i. I bought the 0w-40 for stand by only. Might pour it into my Avanza if a better offer for 5w-30 comes along... :4:

Astroboy, which brand and model of oil you use for that 5w-30 LL-04?

I just service my 325i... using Mobil1 5W30.. RM236 per 4 litres.. viscosity is the number behind right? not the front digit...

Yup, front digit is regards to the temperature.

Many thanks to everyone reply, I just visited one of the accessories shop in Penang and found the Slime Repair kit, RM70 (the one come with a green sealant + a 12V pump). When I'm about to make my payment at the counter, I ask the guy to test if the pump work. When he open up the package, the cigarette power socket broke and fell apart. (Plastic material deteriorate). Then he take another one, same issue, the cigarette socket plastic crack and that is their last stock. End up I did not manage to buy. My advice to those who purchased Slime Repair kits, please constantly check the pump and everything. Don't end up surprise when you need to use it at the roadside. Another experience I wish to share. My E90 front wheel arch plastic cover (the 6x5 inch square plastic cover when we want to replace light bulb) fell off and went missing. I went to a renown 3rd party mechanic shop here and they quote me RM38, the same day I drop by Auto Bavaria and bought it with only RM8.90 !!! I think if parts that doesn't require intensive workmanship, we should check with AB for comparison, AB not always expensive. A separate question, Tesco Penang on sale a 4-Liter Castrol Edge 0W-40 fully synthetic oil with only RM136. Anyone know what is the normal price? Is this oil good for E90 320i? I know most recommend is 5W-30. If oil thickness of 40 give a little bit more protection with perhaps little compromise in power and fuel consumption. Why not. (am I right?)
f**k, u know how much Heritage charged me for those front wheel arch plastic cover, RM60 per pc!!!!...had to buy 2 summore....

Decided to go for the Liqui Moly TopTec 4100 5W-40 Engine Oil for my 320d.

Reason why I chose this oil as it is rated BMW LL04 as recommended by the service booklet.

agreed, been using Liqui Moly TopTec 4100 5W-40 for my 335i for a few service intervals now..gonna stick to this oil for a while..reason being oil temp is stable and doesn't overheat easily during frequent spirited rempit drives..apart from that engine feels a lot smoother when optimum operating temp is reached..overall I'm satisfied
