not sure whether u call it blisters or not ....my stock 205/55R16 Dunlop SP2000E still looks so so in terms of thread pattern but just yesterday (after some 3,000kms since last close look) i saw quite a few blisters on the front set of tyres...is it normal for these performance grade tyres? 42,500kms now...or is it time to change i wonder? I also want a more quiet tyre. well, couldnt stand looking at the tyre blisters ....felt unsafe too. Tyre shop people were quite puzzled with the blisters. So, i went shopping for new tyres for my stock 205/55R16 wheels.Choices:-1) Bridgestone G111 (made in Thailand) ..... RM395/pc 2) Continental ComfortContact-1 (made in M'sia) ..... approx. RM340/pc 3) Goodyear NCT5 (made in M'sia) ..... RM310/pc 4) Michelin MXV8 (made in Thailand) ..... approx. RM370/pc5) Michelin Pilot Preceda (made in Thailand) ..... RM420/pc all inThe quotes for no. 1 to 4 above excludes charges for valves, balancing tyres. So, i put Michelin Pilot Preceda on all 4 wheels ..... RM420/pc inclusive of new metal valve, balancing, alignment .....1st impressions were how silent the tyre was compared to the stock Dunlop SP2000E and of course much better grip, but then comparing to the worn & older tyres ..... but definitely quieter.

i currently on Michelin MXV8, not so quiet, but the grip is good, even on wet.....

I second that. By the seat of my pants, I think they are better than my ex-Jambatan Batu S306. Where the S306 wud have let go in the wet, the MXV8's are still biting hard.Currently I now have MXV8s in the front and the S306s in the rear. Great for fish-tailing!

What about Yokohama C-Drive? Any impressions anyone? The tread pattern looks very similar to continentals but I really wonder about this tire.

hmmm, i had Goodyear NCT5 on my previous car for some 38k kms and then switched to MXV8. The thread patterns of the two are a little similar. Somehow, i do not feel much difference and so that discouraged me from fixing that to my car now. Still, the MXV8 is a good tyre and i do agree that it is a little noisy, only a little. This type of thread pattern should last much longer than my Precedas. The new Energy MXV8 delivers the finest level of driving comfort, and still offers optimum grip and superb handling in all conditions, plus a long life. It features breakthrough Michelin "Green" technology that reduces rolling resistance and lowers fuel consumption. This tyre has everything for the discerning luxury car owner. Energy MXV8 replaces the well-recognised market leader Michelin Energy MXV3A
quotes from Michelin.com.sg only, not independent reviews, fyi ......Created by the people who design Formula One tyres, this Pilot range delivers unparalleled handling and responsiveness. Being the latest in the range, Pilot Preceda, shifts performance up a gear. While delivering high precision cornering and stability, Pilot Preceda is one of the quietest sports tyres in the market.

you are quite right in saying it look like the Continental tyre i.e. the PremiumContact model....the one i like but when i call to ask  RM700+/pc ! One page review in Sept 04 Motoring but the conclusion says the C.Drive makes a good all round tyre...pretty decent dry and wet performance and high levels of comfort and quiteness.

Ah, I see I see. I saw the C-Drive at Eneos car centre in 1 Utama and the price was RM365 for 215/60/16. Half the price of the Conti and the same good looks. Not bad huh?

Just came back from long drive (KL to Muar).... impressed with the quietness of the Pilot Preceda tyres. Comfortable. Handling seems pretty good too (of course i am not adventurous to try anything drastic).

Bimmerman/Stephen,bit loss here , r u guys talk about Yokohama or Continental ?i never heard of C-drive for Yoko (web oso don't hv).i use Yoko AVS ES100 all round, now at half the thread life, still very goodin handling corners, rear start bit noise (as makan inner side).next i might consider AVS sport or Michelin pilot sport ..... sakit again.

Hope the C drive is better than the ES100. Yoko tires usually sucks when the thread is less than 50%,

If $$ is no objection, Get the Michelins!! When I was using 16in rims I used the Pilot Sport for more than 1 1/2 years and travelled more than 70,000km! Awesome tires, and when there was less than 20-30% thread left, the tires were still quiet!Al

u r right there, if $ not an issue, then get the Michelin Pilot Sport .....excellent reviews on it. But it is so expensive. I settle for the cheaper version of Pilot series, Michelin Pilot Preceda....so far so good. or get the Bridgestone S-03, also ultimate performance tyres. $$$$$

The Preceda seems good to have good reviews. I am trying Hankook and see how it fares before I make the next decision on whether to get the Preceda or not....1 French woman=2 korean chics

I'm also on Precedas....pretty happy with it especially the low noise levels and very good comfort .....grip is also very good..but not as confidence inspiring in the wet like the Goodyears........I suppose it's a good enough compromise as I place a bit more emphasis on comfort and noise

eh, i found one shop selling Michelin Pilot Sport (used, 90+% left) 300+ per tyre, should i go for it ???? for 17inch......
