26 May 2007Sent my car for service today. Things done:-1) Change engine oil (Elf Semi-syn 15w-50 - 4 litres ngam ngam)2) Oil filter (original)3) Change both air-cond belt and alternator belt (the big & small one) - Conti-tech4) Change auto gearbox oil (original BMW Dex III - 6 litres) + change auto filter and gaskets (big and small one)All in RM688 inclusive of labour and it took more than 4 hrs to complete everything. After the above changes, I asked the mechanic to check the airbag light which is on all the time. He used this thingie which I believed is the Modic..plugged in:-a) Detect engine fault code: - Result negativeb) Detect transmission fault code:- Result negativec) Detect ABS fault code:- Result negatived) Detect airbag fault code:- Result "Positive" coz the computer said the seatbelt tensioner for driver side kaput already, he tried to erase the code using the Modic but it came back later, so he told me the driver side seatbelt tensioner kaput....to replace it (from chop shop) will cost abt RM800?Anyone had this problem b4? and managed to solve it? My previous owner said that previously Auto Bavaria told her it was some wire/ spring on the dashboard which was loose...to fix it cost RM200+. But i am confused, which is which?Anyone could advise? Thanks

took some pics

a) when sucking the old dirty engine oil out
b) when the oil pan (big) for the gearbox is taken out for cleaning
c) jacked up the car, saw the rear absorbers... BOGE

=)

Wonder why 6 liters of ATF oil required.. As my Mc said 2.5 liters are more then enough. hmmm

Mine is also M43 wz 4 speed auto..

coz he took out both the big oil pan and small oil pan.
when he released the screw, only a bit of ATF came out but when the took out the pan, wow...flowing like free beer. ahhaha.

i saw him pumped 6 bottles of 1 litre ATF back into the gearbox, pumped till 5th bottle then have to start the engine, leave it in neutral position, then the gearbox internal part will suck up some of the fluid, then pumped the 6th bottle until it flows out. then it indicated its full

when this young chap seems to know what he is doing, he knows e36 and e46 quite well. so ok lah, trust him lor since my usual mechanic dun have those modic to test continental car and reset the service interval light.

no problem, just make sure he change both...the big oil pan and the small oil pan.
Big one is where the auto filter is in, and the small one is the switch for the gearbox...

goodluck, do share with us some pics when u service ur car ;)
