Lee, I don't think ABs that great either. Went in to the Sg besi branch, nobody layan me. This is on a Saturday afternoon. All looked sleepy and not interested.

on topic:
so, going to naidu, it is expected that he is not going to give you an AC room, nice girls to chat with, cold drinks and mags or plasma TV to watch Astro. But for the price, more than satisfied.

For good PR and customer relationship, go to AB. Waiting room aircond, free flow water cooler, got tv to watch, can chat w the pretty sales reps.... who are waaay more attractive than Nd and his staff... :D
You get all the above and then they rip you off and screw up your car!

So there u go Mr.Manamohan, some feedback for u. I'm quite sure Naidu will attend to your grouses if u go back to c him. :D

Hey guys, pardon the delay. Dial-up 1515 connections keep failing on me. Regarding Naidu, i've had a bad experience so i ain't going there again. Obviously some of you had happy experiences, so i guess its just one of those things! I saw Naidu myself and spoke in Tamil so no chance of miscommunication... Anyway, I've spent a fair bit on my air-cond before i saw Naidu, everything but the cooling coil is new. The thing that irked me was that i'd dropped by cos i was bored, and just wanted the air-cond serviced. I repeatedly told him to call me if anything needed changing. He didn't. He also didn't solve the original problem of air-con frosting up, and the tensioner came apart within 2 weeks. One mechanic i saw thought the modified tensioner was pretty ingenious but that it needed another nut to prevent it from loosening. I'm also sure the air-con "On-Off" switch didn't need changing. Anyway, i've reverted to the original tensioner, and car is good now. No squeks and humming sounds. Apparently, BM's spring loaded variable tensioner applies different tension on the belt depending on engine speed. The modified tensioner applies a constant pressure. On another note, my idling problem seems to have disappeared. I'm not sure why...maybe its the CO2 canister or fuel tenting valve which i changed. But its great to be relieved of a 3 year old, petrol sapping problem!

Hey, good to hear from you.

Sorry abt ur bad experience.

I do see your point.

From recents reports, I have to say there is a limit to the expertise of a shop under a tree, to be fair. Regular maintenance issues on more common models can be fixed very cost-effectively. Newer models would be another matter though.

I was also wary of the self-made tensioner, so i passed on that option.

Well, good to hear ur idling pbms have been mysteriously solved.

Hey Lee,
Right you are bout the guy under the tree... I'm in the mechanical line myself, so i guess Naidu's still impressive doing what he does with limited resources. My in-laws go there for routine servicing of their cars' air-cond ( i just found out...), they haven't had bad experiences. My car's idling has been ok for more then a month, its great especially with the increased fuel prices. The only drawback is that the car feels like a 1.8 rather than 2.3l. I've removed the iridium plugs (Denso) as my mechanic said 2 were burnt, plus the plugs i had were not for BMW. I've gone back to BMW recommended standard 2 pin plugs. I think the ECU is still temperental, wonder if getting the software re-written or re-programmed will help. Some chaps in KL are re-programming the ECU for more power (which is always a good thing!), but i've had my woes with the car so i'll wait a while. I also tried putting in a new original stock air filter, however, contrary to expections, the old BMC filter still gives better performance.

Ciao

Alamak...one day last year, I went to AB asking them whether can fix my car or not.
They no more accepting my car la....
For them, my E34 is too old oledi and suggesting me to send it to
outside workshop :aggressive:

Have to go to Naidu today in the morning.

Aircond leaking......... Hope he will do a good job.

Need 2 send my car to Naidu, the blower seems not to strong despite switched at higher speeds, what could be the problem?

Anybody have Naidu's no?

anybody has his number ?

went there to fix my aircond motor, no complains. cheap cheap. He saw my headlamps was cracked, offered to change for only RM130, while heritage quoted RM180.

1. My car had an aircond problem. Hot air was blowing out of the aircon vents on the left half of my dashboard, whilst cold air came out from the other half's aircon vents.

2. I was quoted slightly above RM7k by a well-known establishment to fix the problem. As this was way too costly, I took my car to a reputable aircon specialist but he couldn't solve my problem. However, I had to pay for labour. And, in my opinion, the workmanship was not exactly terrific either.

3. Lee36328 then introduced me to M1 in Kayu Ara. They managed to fix my car's problem for about RM1.4k (incl. parts, consumables and labour). They were quite analytical and discovered that the source of my problem was a shred of rubber which broke off from the heater valve rubber seal and got stuck in the heater coil. The shred of rubber was extricated and the heater valve and other parts were replaced. The aircon works fine now. Workmanship was good too.

I leave it to you to draw your own conclusions.
