ZF5HP - Jerk on changing to third gear

Hi, The ZF5HP on my 525i 24V has a minor jerk when shifting from 2nd to 3rd. The rest of the gear changes are perfect i.e. 1st to 2nd, 3rd to 4th and 4th to 5th. The car drives well except that it's a bit annoying. Have changed ATF, filter and done modic test which slows no error codes. Some mechanic suggested to service the valve body. Anyone has any solution or experienced similar situation.

vincent im not a 24vlv user but this wut i did on my old rusty. check ur fluid lvl. if the fluid is too much or too low oso can gib u jerky powblwm. have u change the filter ? on my 4hp there was lot of residue since the old owner never change the filter b4. vlv body can be service but change ur filter 1st cheaper.

service the valve body.. you might have a sticky valve,or ball float passage clog..
after that completly flush the box, not drain and fill..

skinhead, filter changed ATF also changed and checked for level.

Pussy, I am suspecting exactly what you mentioned. Any recommendation of good tranny guy who could do the job? Approximately what sort of damage?

only guy i know is competent is ah wai, but these days his prices are high..

damage is about 480.00 without oil change..

i know of another AT specialist, he does mainly volvo cars, but he has lotsa AT GB experiences, prices should be close to bm world prices but do a comparison

if you can get the repair kit yourself and get him todo the service and change

shop is in Sri gombak AKITA Auto, volvo people know him well

Teejay, thanks I will also get an opinion from AKITA. BTW some of the volvo's uses the ZF5HP too.

some volvo, are FWD, some RWD, i've seen the 4hp22 from the 740, and 5hp from which car i'm not sure, could be from some merc, as he does lots of conti cars too, and sometimes some other garage sends autobox for him to overhaul.....

Merc uses their own G/Box not ZF or GM
