Let us know where did u finally diagnose ur UDM ( Canggih one )...atleast I can give a try too... since myne some times delay in shiftting gear from 3 to 4.. but if i slow down and ram back or while driving shift to "N" and then "D" no problem found.....

i think i have same problem like you... just happen if i drive aggresive like when in hurry or floor gas padel max

Hii..

MMM... canggih one is diagnose tools the big one, yang tak canggih is a small one ( handheld ). handheld don't have a code, it shows a fault ie. gear monitoring, the canggih one will show u a fault code and problem... I think the canggih one normally bmw workshop have it but certain workshop use the small one...

Actually what is ur fault code shows when u diagnose.?

i faced problem like u before. it takes some time to get the fault code. my car recond uk, and first model for E36, so the meter panel dont have a gearbox indicator. one day my mechanic try change the meter panel with the new model than me, than the gearbox light on when the problem comes.
after that when he diagnose, detected gear monitoring fault. start from there i will get the fault code. after change back to original meter panel, than i diagnose again at another mechanic, the fault code will appear.

what car u drive?

Mine is 325i “94

FYI : I have just bought the car few month back ( May ’06) from one the so call BM specialist ( mechanic ) from PJ, where this car is one of his customer’s, according to him the gearbox has been over haul n I will never face problem at least for 1 year. Hope Im not facing gear box problem but might be some other minor defect.

Might u thing y Im not back to him :- Feel that he is not good enough since he could not able to fix few of my previous defect ( spend few hundred ringgit but no result ) which I manage to solve it through one of my close Honda Mechanic.

Anyway based on few sifu’s advice I would like to:-
1st .. 2moro Try to change the gear box oil n see what is the result
2nd .. Try to dismantle the + battery head for few minutes n fix it back.

If both of the above could not solve the problem then I need a good diagnose.
I will keep updating u the result..

I have changed my gearbox oil, gaskets, filter, but still can't resolve the sports mode transmission like issue. Have also tried the dismantle the battery method but can't resolve it as well. Did some online research at a number of forums all over the world and these are some of the addition things I should check:
1) Transmission range swtich (attached to gear selector)
2) Tranmission program switch
3) Shift lock solenoid
4) TCM

Going to try my best to get it working. If not I will condemn the auto tranny to the pits of hell and go with manual instead!

seems like gearbox problem is in season now

i drive a '94 325. Had problems shifting from 1st to 2nd. Drained the fluid, it was very clean. Solenoids were fine. Mechanic, suggested i do an overhaul. In the end, what did i do?.....

I converted it to a manual....hehehhe

No problem with dismantling and fixing back battery terminal other then needing to set time, date and year on the computer and setting up all the radio stations again. But dun think it will help the transmission, unless it is just an error code problem.

If u decide to change gearbox oil, ask your mechanic do a checking for all the solenoid. there have 5 pcs ( 318 ) , 325 am not sure, maybe same. from there u will find either your solenoid working or not, rather than u just change the gearbox oil.
