The speed & petrol consumption same wt my E39 528 which I believe share the same type of engine. Of course cant match 7 series comfort & stability at high speed. Only thing worry bout the bodypart & chasis wear & tear cost. How's the pick up of the this elephant? Love at 1st sight when saw the Transpotter movie.
Boss, now ur really transpotter by sending the things for Justin. hehehe

I am curious why the FC is better than my car [e39 523i]????

Due to the 'power to weight ratio'?????

He he you are right about being the transporter. Having had two E36 328i this E38 although share the same engine don't have the same punch as the E36. Nonetheless she does the job well and the gearbox is very smooth.

Sound proofing is very impressive too. Built quality is very high and I would expect so as these car cost around RM500K when new. They are all CBU cars.

I do agree that replacement parts are a little on the high side, but I was told by my regular parts distributor that the E38 especially 728i hardly gives any trouble. In fact he was saying that the E39 had more problems than the E38. Don't know how true is this statement.

Hi All,

Bought my 2001 E38 728i in Jun. Measure the consumption by reset the trip meter + pump VPower full tank and then later pump full tank again and then the amount divide by the no of KM driven. This is what I get city drive about 29 cents per KM and highway long distance (From KL to JB) cost about 24 cents per KM (average speed was about 150KM per hour though some times up to 190KM). Some times I can be heavy footed on the car.

On another note, my car engine start to be shaky 1 month after get from car dealer. Send to mechanic and found problems in the ECU (Engine Control Unit), valves in 2 cylinders doesn't close tightly lead to under compression in cylinder, engine head have hair line cracked & burned gasket. So in the end got to change ECU, Engine Head, engine oil, auto transmission oil, some bush, hoses.... After change the car performs really smooth again. I suspect the previous owner of the car overheat the car badly and the her could be using water to cool down the car. Then sell off the car.

Apart from the pain on my first major repair, I feel very happy everytime driving the car. haha.... Who says money can't buy happiness???

Congrats Vincent n Justin on the new ride. No doubt in your hands, a good car will turn into a great car! Can't wait to see what u r going to do with it...

Hey Guys thanks for the great messages. BMW never fails to impress me. One E30 320i, Two E36 328i, One E28 528i, Two E34 525i, One E23 728i, One E32 735iL and now E38 728i. The pleasure of driving a BMW is something very hard to describe but addictive.

Andrew, will try to do what I do best. Anyway, this car has a very good base to begin with.

Hey Vince,... this is one really good E38,.... the first impression of driving it says it all.
You are one blessed man to get your hands on this beauty!
CONGRATS for a superb E38.

Yeah, and you are the first person other than me to have tested this car. BTW I am getting all four absorbers changed tomorrow. Got a great deal.

Today, Kevster racun me about getting those comfort seats with those back trays. Then he already booked the car if I ever want to sell it.

Very nice friends I have.

This evening one of them offered me a set of 17" Original ACS Type II for this car. Not too sure if they look nice on the car. But then again my 235/60/16 Michelins are almost new. Just done 3,000 kms. If someone buy them off me then can consider.

Kev, also another one. 18" Multi spoke pulak.

how about my sweet 18" staggered ori ACS type 2 racing ..... ?? :34:

:burnout:
