The O ring that was taken out was already harden. Albert oil the replacement parts well before refixing them.

By the way my cam shaft angle position was spot on. Albert has the original kit for both single & double vanos to lock the cam shaft.

I feel power delivery is much smoother now. I think his workmanship is very reasonable. He told me double vanos is less than RM250.00

Since getting this car, yesterday, was the first time I had the valve cover, clutch fan, sparkies, rad. fan cowling removed.

I knew my oil filler cap show some stains fo sludge, therefore I was quite anxous to see the condition of the cylinder head & cams beneat the valve cover. To my suprise, it was very clean and golden in colour despite the 240K mileage.

I am sharing this because many have expressed fear when propective buyers or owners sees stains of oil sludge at the oil filler cap.

We also noticed that the previous owner had maintained the car with no regards to costs as can been seen that all replacements parts like clutch fan, radiator and even the sparkies were original BMW parts. Not OEM!

Less than RM250 is a very good price considering the amount of work and time involved.

Indeed it's quite a lot of work & time involved. He said for single vanos have to be more careful when removing two nuts holding the single vanos plate. Drop it into the engine and that will be serious trouble.

I think it's best to leave the car with him early so that the engine can cool down enough before he starts work later in the evening when no customers or phone call distracts him.

Kevster, told me to run in (clock in a few hundred kms) and the difference will be very noticeable.

Thanks again Herbert for introducing us the Besian vanos seals.

Ya Man, Running is much smother now. Kevster and I got it done on the same day at Optimum. Cost RM250.00. I actually feel some increase in power and also better fuel consumption.
Ya Herbert mate, thank you so much for introducing us to Beisan Vanos Seal.

One of the best maintainence procedures I have ever done and would gladly recommend it to anyone.

Lower end torque has improved and powerband is much more linear. Fuel consumption has improved as well.

For the price of parts and labour, it is truly best bang for the buck. the results are as good, if not better than performing a top overhaul!

Next up, the camshaft sensor, and she should be purring as when she left Bavaria.....

Bro Kevster,

How and when would you know the camshaft sensor needs a change??? What are the symptoms??? Some person told me uneven engine idle.......

Do u know the cost for one of these???

Ooopppss...I read somewhere on the forum it is about Rm400.....true?

Ssman,

As the sensor degrades through time, the loss of power is very gradual tht you do not realise it. Plug in the diagnostic tool and it will say ok, no faults. However the reality of it is this sensor consists mainly of a magnetic pickup to read the signals and in our wonderful tropical heat, how long do you think the magnetic property will last?

Last I called around the price ranges from rm350-rm420.

Poor idling is not a symptom of the cam sensor. It is usually related to the MAF or an air-leak in the intake system, also tired O2 sensors.

An important point to note, a fault code will only be present during diagnostic when the sensor is no longer working, but will not register if it is weak. This is true of ALL sensors.

Hope this helps

My dad has waited a long time for these pics. Happy father's day!

The car will be going to CMS USJ today for a small make over. Face lift & a paint job. Nothing compared to Ssmann. Going to be a frustrating 2 weeks without this car!!!

Bro - u r taking the plunge. The racun is too strong. Here are some suggestions: -

1. Whilst you are painting consider comfort seats????
2. Might as well go for double glaze windows too...
3. Change rear shocks to Titans also and this will make the ride solidly cool...will help Kevster drfit better :listen:
4. Get the M-parallel staggered...you know you need it
5. Give it a solid tint to match the makeover....must have bro....must have
6. Finally, colour change or same colour???? Go the whole nine yards bro...shock us all with a magic colour choice...I dont see a green shade yet in any of your collection....go for Jolly Green, the best example I have seen is on the Volks Sicrosso?? (i dont know how to spell it)

Looks like TT have to postpone to 1st week August la.....lots of E38's coming out in the next few weeks :top:

All the best bro and keep us posted. Pictures are always handy
